Turbo questions. 180? 90?

Hello all. Just a few questions. Its harder to turbo a 3 cyl with its 120 degree firing order. Needs a lot more volume to charge as one piston is always uncovering an exhaust port. So on the 4 cylinders with 90 degree firing, is this an issue? I know turbos work very well on these, but is there any gains to be made by installing the crank 180, having two cylinders closed and open at a time?

Also, if installing twin turbos on a 90 degree motor, how would you go about deciding which cylinders to pair? Not interested in "just use one big turbo" or "why even mess with two." Just trying to better understand the physics behind it all.
