i may have a line on one and was just wondering how rare they are and if they made them in all the v4 years of production?

Vmax4 mountain

I've noticed alot of the older sleds I've seen in Colorado have had rail, and tunnel extenders with 136" track. I frequently visit craigslist and have only seen 2 for sale here and I bought one of them which had the extensions on it. I'm just guessing that mine had be set up from the dealer, factory tunnel extension and Yamaha/camoplast track 1 1/2 by 136. Would like to see a ST

Well, this should be interesting. Let's start with the pic looks like a pic of Sasquatch. It's a little blurry and the guy says the sled is a 96 vmax 600. Now I can totally make out the vmax4 hood and there is definitely some sort of extension on the thing. The sled is black. I have emailed the guy for more pics and info. Either he is totally unaware of what he has or the pic isn't the sled thy he is selling. Or it can be a Frankenstein. Either way I'm planning on taking this investigation further as soon as I get some details. If anyone has any pics of a black vmax 4 st (mountain) I've been searching all day and haven't had any luck. I'll let you know more when I do.

you asked.... I answered... Do you notice that there is no advertising via google or any outside entity. The only ads you will see are from sponsors from this site, and that is not that many.

Ok, got more pics. Definitely is a vmax4 st. Now for the year, the guy says it's a 96. But it's black and it has st on the tunnel. I see no engine size on the hood. It's got vmax4 real big on top of the clutch side hood and vmax4 smaller on the other side's side panel. It also has the aluminum skis. One other thing it has in the same place both sides is the numbers 623m. I'm figuring this is it's reg # or something altho it's in purple and matches the sled. Any thoughts? I plan on picking this up as soon as I concock a plan to get the money. Seems rare and I'd like to add it to my rapidly growing collection. It's already priced right and I plan on talking him down some more. I do have pics I'll try to get them on here in the morning since it's 3 am thanksgiving day. Let the dogs out, checked my mail, now I can't sleep.

800 was on the upper headlight cowl/bezel on both sides. rear bumper was aluminum with a black bump strip and tunnel was black with same color extension. the one i owned had after market M10 with the brackets over top of the tunnel. The st is 1 or 1.5 inches narrower and you can see it beside the strut towers. the hoods are the samee but the frame is narrower for easier manouvering and would hit the top of one strut if closed carelessly. Ski skins were red and gearing should have been 21 top gear but forgot bottom# Service manual that is here somewhere gives propper jetting and clutch setup that i used. I thought i read somewhere that the 97 was the only year for the actual Mountian Max 800. I have seen a red 96 advertised as one from Alaska but it could have been just the build date so it would have been a 97 model yr. There is a copy of an add on the old site and i imagine it is here someplace of the 97 mm800. sorry i think it was a video!

i just found a vmax that a guy is calling a 1996 V-Max 4 800 Mountain Max. is this the sled you guys are talking about? if so, any known problems with them? 4200 miles, appears to be in good shape, asking $1700 for it. what are your thoughts?

Yes that is a 96. Good price too. Looks like he might have had to put on smaller drives or did a drop and roll to get that track in. Regardless a nice find.
