Gearing help

Has anybody ever ran 24/35 gearing for 660ft ice radar run. Stock 1996 vmax4? Is it a good choice for gearing or too high? Thanks

No way 24/37 is shifted out in 660' with a stock motor. Dominicturbo is correct. The best first step would be to leave the stock gearing and work on the clutching, especially for speed runs.

Yes Big Bore it' s not possible to shift the stock gear with a stock motor on 660'.
Engage lower, around 3600-3800 with moderate cam angle, 42-43* and shit to 38-37* and try to keep the engine RPM betwin 8100-8250 max.
Also hold up the front suspension for dont have to much transfert and lower the sled(front and back)
Run stock primary and try a little bigger roller.

Last year with a 750, stock clutch, stock engine, stock gear(94) 800 stock pipe, 800 CDI and safe jettinf I ran 182KM/H on 2500feets. Verry good for old stock sled.

I agree with these guys, no way its bottomed at 660 with those gears. I would try to get closer to a 1.75 : 1 for 660 feet

Thanks for the help guys. Ill be workin on my clutching. New? ? What gearing for a 1995 vmax4 800 with aaen quads, reeds&spacers, heads cut and 38mm carbs. for 660ft? Thanks for all the info.

Assuming its spins about 8800 r's with those AAENS I would start the same way as 550 said. (22-30) If you want to go lower (1.81:1)
I would try to find a 40 tooth lower rather than to go smaller on top simply because the tighter the radius on the chain the more power it takes to turn it. Hey GYT/KIT, you know that Randy Flentje catfish over there in Mishicot?
