Primary Clutch belt ?

my belt lacks a bout a 1/4 in from the top of the sheeve at wot on a stand. It also has a pretty good wear pattern at that hight. I was just thinking if I could get belt out further I could get some more mph and et.

I took the spring out and put belt in and fills all but a 1/16".

Not sure if I am over thinking the hole thing.
