Was it 1200 from MB?

Yes, that is the one. Looks decent and to me, not much wear on the sled but it will be a bit of a project

Thanks. I will and thanks to this site and all its awesome members for posting so many helpful tips and articles. I am sure i will be searching lots for many little tricks. At least i have owned 2 of them and worked on them enough to mostly remember how to assemble it..... I hope!

so far NIX marine and Offroad in Selkirk, MB are very nice to deal with and everything they say they do! I will be looking for a L.h. side panel and of course a low black windshield

I should just part it out but that's just not fair to the poor old thing. I think it likes me and want's me to spend a few months of paychecks on it! lol

new oil lines, new fuel lines and pulse hoses, tank cleaned, oil pump flushed and air bled out. Now to assemble carbs, and ...... Hopefully hear it run tomorrow ( sat dec17/11). Not going to be a show sled but i am hopeful that it will run decent and drive o.k. Decided to overhaul dial - a- jet pods and try them.

It lives!! I guess i have to name it or something now? Only major issue for tomorrow is the rad cap rubs on the hood. Hood crooked from a crash or the rad support is wrong somehow. Lots of cosmetic issues but basically works pretty good so far. Colder here now so i will repair my electric visor cord on my helmet and get out for a test drive tomorrow hopefully. It has a 750 clutch on it with a 800 taller cover so i put a ypy spring and 8bu arms and the rivets for 8bu. Might have the center to center distance not perfect yet but wanted to hear it run so bad that i just did a pretty close offset and hoped that the strut rod would set center to center. Need to fab up a tool for it tomorrow . Used dial a jets but put 142.5 mains in it so the dial a jet might only cut in on a real cold day if it works at all. At least with close to chart jetting it wont matter if they don't work. seems to run good and on the trail i will check plug color. barely got it warmed up yet and pre mixed 50:1 so it is still loaded up. Next weekend or through out the week the skid comes out and gets greased and inspect bushings. Oil in the chain case looks pretty good so that's a relief . Don't know if it is stock gearing but my buddy at work has a video scope so if i am feeling lazy i can just drain it and look for the numbers with it down through the fill hole. Rambling on now as t is 12:18 a.m. here so that's it for now but wow does it every sound nice!!!!

Went for a 5 km ride. Works great but dial a jets made the top end rich so thats no big deal for now. Probably will get rid of them or block off the feed to them through the float bowl drains once the new drain screws arrive. The system obviously works though as all the lines had fuel in them and from 3/4 throttle up it gets rich. Need new ski's and the dealer says rx1 ski's will bolt on somehow and he stocks different rubber pads to mate up to the t.s.s. Nice warm day here and hopefully my polaris buddy will join me for a ride. The 7 or year long wait has sure paid off as it is so fun to be on a Vmax4 again!

CONGRATS good to here your riding

This is how I understand the system works.
Each click of the DAJ is supposed to be equal to going up one step on the mains,
IE you start with 142.5 you could be running anywhere from 142.5 up to 147.5 depending on which hole you have them set at.
They want you to use the middle hole and adjust your mains to give you a good plug color at the temp/elevation you normally run at.
Then you can have 2 clicks in either direction to help compensate for temps etc. The DAJ will not run any leaner that the main jet you
are running but if somehow the air inlet holes get plugged they will default to full rich.
Hope this helps...

I feel safer not using the dial a jets. just old school i guess and until i get a good egt with a warning system thats fine. made a nice 3 hour trail ride sunday and although lots of cosmetics still to do it worked awesome. Needs carbides or new ski's off of a apex or ??. Shortened the front straps last night, repaired my electric visor and tried the 8bf arms that were in the 750 clutch. revs a little higher but i think i will use the 8bu's and get the rivets set better. they didn't stock the right combo and too much inner weight kept the revs down and didn't work right. The 8bu's have a stronger pull as it shifts out and without that it seems kind of boring. Endless playing with that i bet to get it how i want. Hopefully this week all my plastic arrives and the factory low windshield. i bought this wreck to ride it and it will never be as nice as a lot of sleds on here but i am having a blast so... criticize me all you want for how she looks.

OUCH as far not being as nice, mine is in a box right now..LOL and your riding. Yours is a projet just like mine cleaning, polishing don"t cost much, so keep on riding and farting around with it and before you know it, it will look awsome.
Would like to see some riding pic"s

More parts arrived today. New windshield, new primary spring and some carb drain screws. I repaired the broken speedo cable for now and then put a 30 km run on it. All i will buy in the next while is either some new carbides or some rx1 ski's. Not a lot of snow yet so maybe ski's would be a good idea to save whats left of the nice ones.
That looks good. Nice that you guys too have snow now.

Yes new windshield from Yukon Yamaha. They are a great dealer to have for sure. It's still missing the lh side panel and needs lots of tuning and suspension / steering adjustment but it sure runs nice. Electric visor draws down the juice quite a bit so i am hoping to find a red l.e.d. 1157 today before my ride up the closest mountain. Mt. Mcintyre. I want it to be nice looking and make the New stuff at least work for it's money so lots of stuff to do to it yet . Hopefully i can get the hood repaired and then the big Vmax4 decal installed . I ordered that one and the lh side panel decal and i have i guy trying to duplicate them at his printing shop. I feel proud to ride it for sure even the way it is now, as it is the fastest older sled on the trails here and i resurrected it from a bone yard too!

About the LED tail light, I think someone said it's better to get the clear LED's for a red tail light lens and red LED's for clear lens. Brighter that way I guess.

Below is the place and the lamp that I got for my vmax4.
My hand warmers work fine also, the point I was trying to make is that even with them drawing full load the high beam doesn't dim when I apply the brakes now thanks to the LED taillight.
They state in there website to buy the same color lamp as your lens is (ie red lens, red led) because the colored lens will absorb the white leds... didn't believe them so I bought a white one too....
god dam, guess they knew what they were talking about after all!!! with lens on white LED is 1/2 the brightness as the red one.... :)

There seems to be enough work around here. I think the weather is supposed to cool off for a bit so our snow is safe. It has been a long time coming for me to have a 95 again so it feels good to get it in better and better condition. It really should have a new frame but it will wait till a donor comes along. What type of work are you looking for?

Not sure, I'm trying to get into a machinist course right now so something like that would be nice, but it would be hard for me to move. I think I'm just starting to get a little frustrated with our weather these days. It seems when I was young we had alot more snow than what we have been getting lately. I actually had a few friends who spent a few years in Dawson City, they really liked it there.

My half brother has been there for many years. It can be a little isolated but i think it is a good experience. I was there for a while across the river on a homestead one winter. I bet a few mines are hiring even this time of year and it would be a good chance to make some money and break into a new career. Some places work 3 week shifts and then allow time off to get home. I moved back from Edmonton this summer and my wife is still there so it is pretty tough but there are cheap flights and i spend a lot of time on this site and working on the Vmax4 to pass the time. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. If you come up here for work, look me up. i am pretty easy to find and i know the area and lots of people

I finally got my left side panel from ebay. I actually received all of the front side plastic so i might replace the left nose piece too. Finally i can do quicker clutch adjustments to get it working better. I will wait to put the decal on it until i can get it professionally painted as it came a little scraped but otherwise in great condition. Ebay rocks and thanks to RiverRange power sports for great service. Happy New Year everyone and thanks for all the help and support on my project.

Installed left side plastic and swapped to wpw spring (vx800st stock primary) Sure is nice to finally have a complete snowmobile and the wpw spring cruises way nicer at low to medium speeds. Almost 1000 rpm less now at 50 to 60 km/h somewhere around 6500 at 60 km. That should save some fuel and top rpm is about 8700 so it gained a bit over the ypy.

greasing all rear bearings with needle tip, replaced lh ski mount that was badly worn and repaired poorly. needs new carbides but that can wait. After new ski mount installed i have 3" of toe out. Is that too much? lol Hopefully i can adjust toe without removing the pipes or the engine.

Actually more like 50 km as i spun a lot climbing up there. not another sled in sight as i went up around 4:30pm and back to the truck by 6:30. It is a 30 min drive from whitehorse. I was pretty proud of my worn out old short track for getting me up there. Perfect conditions but I really want a 162 or something under her soon

Went out today to an old spot in the hills. Didn't seem to climb like i remebered 10 years ago even though its just a short track. brought it in and serviced the chain case....24 / 37 gears???. Wow ! no wonder it was doggy until 140km/h. 22 39 in it now so that should be better for where i ride now.

I have enough parts to build an st including frame and skid and ...... just looking for a cheap 136" track but it seems as though they are scarce.
