I'm reluctant to share this story with you guys because after all, I am a Vmax-4 Guru. I know that I am because it says so by my avatar. However, I'm so stupid that I have to laugh at myself.
Okay, I go out in the barn to start the sled for the first time. Drain the old gas, put in new gas mixed with Yamalube, put new plugs in, turn the key on, dump a little gas in the airboxes, pull the rope several times. Nothin'. Hmm. Pull a plug and it's wet. Pull them all and dry them off. Pull the starter rope with no plugs in to purge the gas out of the cylinders. Put everything back together, pull the rope several times. Nothin'. Hmm. Pull a plug and set it on the cylinder head and pull the rope. No spark. Hmm. Look down and the kill switch is activated. Hmm. I never, ever use the kill switch, always the key. Install the plug, pull the kill switch out, give the rope a hard yank. Within about a foot of pulling the rope all 4 cylinders fire, leaving no resistance on the rope and me on my ass on the barn floor. I'm considering this a 1/4 pull start after the sled has sat in the trailer all Summer. Love that Yamaha technology! Whenever my 3-year-old Grandson comes out in the barn or in the trailer, he has to sit on every sled and play with the controls and make funny engine sounds. Hmm, wonder who he learned that from. He must have pushed the kill switch and I never checked it. I put him on the seat between my legs and the first thing he said was "Go fast, Papa". That's my boy. We weren't even out of the barn yet. We took a few laps around the yard and boy did it feel good to ride again!
