primary clutch

will any other yamaha clutch fit on a vmax 4?

i used the clutch off a '96 vmax 600 for my '92 vmax 4. put a clutch kit in and good to go.

The back of the fixed sheave is cut for clearance on the Vmax-4's. I thought that there were clearance issues with the other sheaves.

the clutches from other yamahas have different tapers on the spider and the fixed sheave will not work bc it bottoms out on the stator casing

i've been running this clutch for 2 years now. no issues. so i don't know what to say guys. ran it with the stock set up from the 600 till this year when i put the clutch kit in.

It's possible that the clutch on the 600 wasn't original to the sled, what weights were in it on the 600?

they are stamped 8ab 01

it around 3600.

sorry hit the wrong key. it engaged around 3600, to low for my liking. but i rode it that way till i put the clutch kit in.
