NOTHING ON THE SRX, GUYS COM,ON!! NEXT TO THE VMAX 4, THIS IS THE BEST SLED YAMAHA MADE. I STILL BELIEVE A WELL SET-UP SRX WILL WAX A 4 STROKE WITH NO PROBLEM. BEEN THERE DONE THAT !! 3:16 (tony)
I`m an idiot. I should stop posting, untill my brain begins to work again:banghead: I did`nt realize there even was a SRX section, so I was commenting on my thoughts about wether there should or should`nt be one, i had found this post by clicking "new post" and did`nt even realize there was a SRX forum. I had`nt noticed it before, untill 2 minutes after i posted here.:banghead:
YammieGod, I´ll put my brother to the task. If you remember, he bought a -01 SRX with longtravel suspension ( Öhlins allround ):sheep . He is just waiting enough snow and ice to the lakes to spank my :bum: !!
I think he should leave me behind, but not much. He has longtravel susp. and I have that 136`track + extra weight of the Vmax4. Where are my  PSI quads when I need them? And I think I need those to beat him.

THAT MIGHT BE CLOSER THAN YA THINK. WHAT CLUTCH SET-UP YOU USEING. !! 3:16 (tony)
Yours... Just still missing the helix for that, but I´ll fix that before snow flies!:muahaha:
So, you think we`ll be close? I´ll post results soon as we race. SRX has that stock track, so do I. So, in the soft I have advantage, but in the hardpack it should turn to Samulejackson`s favour..

DON,T RACE UNTIL YOU HAVE HELIX IN !! I AM BETING ON YOU !! 3:16 (tony)
Tony, how much in time does that helix help me ? Do you have an idea about it. What I remember from last season, my secondary is shifting quite good up, not that good down.

THAT HELIX WITH MY CLUTCH SET-UP WILL GIVE YA INPROVED ACCELERATION AND BACK SHIFT. I ASSUME YOU HAVE STOCK STRAIT ANGLE HELIX IN NOW ? THATS WHY IT FEELS BETTER SHIFTING UP AND SLUGESH DOWN BECUSE THIS IS A STRAIT ANGLE HELIX AND DO NOTHING FOR YA. THE ONE I WANT YA TO USE HIS A MULTI ANGLE THAT WILL SHIFT YOUR CLUTCHS FASTER CAUSEING BETTER ACCELERATION. IF YOUR BROTHER HAD A STANDARD SRX WITHOUT THE LONG TRAVEL KIT, IT WOULD BE TUFF, BUT THOSE SCUFF TOP SPEED, YOU HAVE A GOOD CHANCE. !! 3:16 (tony)
YammieGod, alongside your setup, I´ve used this too:
- stock weights ( part number 8BU-17605-00-00 ) 45,41 grams with the maximum 3 engagement shims under White-silver-White ( part number 90501-555J9 ) spring.
That is not so "rough" in the trail like your setup, but still gives quite good liftoff. By that rough comment I mean that it gives a bit smoother engagement in the deep snow.

So srx and v4 both stock, I suppose only in my dreams. Guys you just started a competion... :muahaha:

IKE, ACTUALLY THAT CLUTCHING YOU POSTED THERE SEEMS PRETTY CLOSE TO STOCK. MIGHT BE AFEW SMALL DEFFERENCE BEING A 136. ANYWAYS STOCK CLUTCHING WAS ABOUT AS BORING AS WATCHING GRASS GROW, WITH MY SET-UP YOU DON,T NEED TO RUN A HIGH ENGAGEMENT, LEAVE RPM SHIMS OUT AND JUST RUN PRIMARY SPRING. YOU SHOULD BE AROUND 4500. !! 3:16 (tony)
SAM, I WANT TO SEE WHO WINS BETWEEN YOU TWO. THAT V4 CLUTCH SET-UP IKE HAS IS A FAST TRAIL SET-UP. HE WOULD NEED ALL DEFFERNT IF HE HAD QUADS. !! 3:16 (tony)
Tony, with that setup my engagement is around 4600 rpm. Mountainmax has that white-pink-white(?) as stock. It was around 3800 rpm´s with that.. LOOOWWWW and boring. It was safe and easy in the deep snow though. Not too much power in so low rpm´s.
Tony, I´ll get that helix and tighten up my track. Then I´m good to go and do some :bottom: on Samueljackson!! Should be interesting winter! I know my brother will get me on the bumps, though the SRX isn´t that much lighter but since he has the longtravel susp. he should have the edge on me. And sometimes my brother is just giving :cussing: to his sleds...:sheep He takes no prisoners:frech32:

So Tony do you got anything for me and my Srx? We have couple races to came with Ike and last year we were only guys defend yammies reputation. It would be nice if my sled would be faster too. There are so many Doos, Poos and that mighty Thundercat with psi 1404 engine to fight with.

OH YA, I GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU. YOU MIGHT BEAT IKE THOUGH, BUT WHAT THE HELL. THAT 1404 TCAT PROBLEY COULD BE LOTS OF TROUBLE BUT TRY THIS.
1. 8BU-00 WEIGHTS.
2. 13.9 inner , 13.3 out
3. 50/40 HELIX @ 2-6 DEGREE
4. GREEN SXr SECONDARY SPRING.
5. W-W-W YAMAHA SRX PRIMARY
NEED ENGAGEMENT AROUND 45-4800
hang on !! 3:16 (TONY)

Is that setup for speed or drag? We race 660ft drags?
Helixs are problem for us because here aint any manufactures fos those parts so order from states is only way to go.

660 AND BEYOND FOR SPEED OR DRAG. IF RUNNING LESS DISTANCE, INCREASE HELIX TOO 51-43. !! 3:16 (tony)

Thanks Tony
i`ll think Ike and I have to order couple helixs for our sleds. Because there is so much talk about which one (srx&V4) is faster, we can find out difference between stock vs stock. And after clutching v4 with that setup of ours we let you know how much setup makes difference. I`ll think other members like to know too....
Sam
Alright guys, all this talk about racing the SRX has got me nervous:D , i had posted a question about racing a 99 SRX 600 last year. Now the guy that owns it is a friend of mine, that has been laughing at me for years when were out riding together, and i was on my vintage, he would blast past me, constantly and it began to get old, so when I got my vmax, I was thinking of racing him to see what would happen, but he broke a rail just before I got mine together. he has it all fixed now. Now his sled is mostly stock, except he said he got quick rods put on it, and a very expensive hauck clutch kit. I know its only a 600, but it does get right with it, plus he wieghts maybe 150 soaking wet, and I`m closer to 240lbs, So i would imagine that may make a differance too. My sled right now is all stock except for one layer head gaskets which I dont think is going to make much of a differance, but i do have a set of PSI quads without interanal stingers(mod blasters?) i plan on putting on, but I probley wont have the money to get the helix from hauck, BUT, i may be able to atleast get the blue sopring so I can raise my engagment. So where do i stand? the last thing i want to do, I get blown away:banghead: I`m not looking to smoke him, but keeping up with him, and maybe getting a little ahead would be nice for a change. any thoughts? yammiegod, talk to me:D do i have to go on a crash diet?:muahaha:

BUD NO WAY THAT 600 SRX TAKES YOUR 95 800. AND IF HE DOSE, HE IS LIEING TO YA!!! ESPECIALLY AFTER YOUR QUAD PIPE IT. DUDE, YOU HAVE HIM BY cc, HP, torque, etc, DON,T GET ME WRONG, A 600 SRX WOULD RUN REAL HARD IN THE RIGHT HANDS, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO TAKE A VMAX 4 800. ! 3:16 (tony)
I owned 2 600 SRX,s & one of em was ported. Race won,t even be close. My ported 600 SRX might have been 130ish hp on a good day.
The PSI quad V4 might be a old dinosour but it is the T-Rex... You should hand him his :bum:. Just too much power what the 600 can´t handle.Just make sure you hook up.
Ike
Ahh,,thats what I wanted to hear:D, i dont think hooking up is going to be a problem, with my wieght, and 240 studs, it should hook up real good I would think?

I've beat every RX-1 I raced so far. I was told they could beat me top end untill my buddies got one and we raced. He told me I just kept pulling away from him. Not to bad mouth a RX-1, but I have to say SRX are one of the fastest sled's built.

If both the 700 and the 800 have the same track and well set up the vmax will win everytime...they are the same weight or so close it isn't a factor. The vmax just has too much more power...and anyone who doesn't think so...put the vmax clutching in the srx and the srx will go flat on its face!

Hey Tony,
I havn't cruised around this site for quite awhile so I never even looked at this SRX post. Yea, SRX - fine machine.
You remember last year (before the site crash) I posted all those test reports on various clutch setups for the VX800 - and also how my VX800 (which is set up real fine and probably pushing 175+ hp) could not touch my SRX. Well this fall I took the pipes off the SRX to ceramic coat them and noticed the jugs were ported. Then did a quick comparison measure on the heads and looks like they've been reworked. When I told you that Jerry Hauck set up this SRX for a friend you were thinking he must have done some motor work to it - I think you're right!!! I thought he just reworked the clutching but this SRX just dances and is on the pipes in a nano-second. Don't know what Hauck did but I ain't changing nothing.

IT WOULD BE INTRESTING TO SEE YA RACE A VMAX 4 WITH SAME WORK DONE TO MOTOR AS YOUR SRX. !! 3:16 (tony)

Might just happen. I had Pat Hauck rework my pistons, jugs and heads on the '96 VX800. I gave him the criteria I was looking for and he set it up. Says I should be exceeding 185 hp. Not built for the drag strip but for fast trail running without hurting the fuel range. Only had it out for a 70 mile run but seems to be stronger in the low end to mid range. I'll get that engine broke in and run that SRX again.

Getting there, Tony. I rode the SRX for 100 miles yesterday then the VX800 for 100. Without lining them up, its gonna be close but I'm betting on the VX800. Amazing torque full range with the new engine mods - getting better the more miles I put on it - what do you figure, 200+ to seat the rings?
Gotta tweak the VX800 clutching a little - need 300 more rpm. At 8500 now, was at 8850 before the redo (running psi quads). Was thinking of taking the secondary to 1-9 instead of dropping clutch weight (at 3-6 now). But, the backshift gets a little too aggressive cornering on the mountain trails.
OR drop a little rivit weight, maybe 13.3 inners instead of 13.9. What would be the best way to go to use all of this new found torque on power I have???
So, we rode our sleds today against each other:
Samueljackson´s SRX got me everytime when we both were stock. It was just no competition there. He could pump the throttle while I was trying to catch him. He was :bottom: my behind! LOL
After setups:
I put the Y-W-Y spring to the clutch, Hauck G helix (49-41) with 70 degrees of tension to the secondary.
SRX had the Hauck Blue, with Hauck adjustable weights (48-49g), stock secondary.
I have the stock Mountain Master (28mm lugs) track, which is pretty much junk. Samueljackson has the new prestudded Ice-Ripper (32mm lugs) Camoplast on his SRX. That is one great track!
This one was much closer: SRX won 1-2 sled lenghts on 201meters (660ft). Key to SRX´s victory is that track. While I´m left spinning on the line, SRX just launches off.
My Vmax4 with this setup will destroy any stock 700 SRX´s on the 201 meters. Great improvement over stock. Again, thank´s for YammieGod! Now I only have to upgrade my track... LOL So, this was the result today.
Ike
EDIT: this was on a hard pack snow.
