I'm presently changing my track and after I removed the old track I did a quick look over of the tunnel....Well not liking it.the rear cooler were it mounts to the tunnel is broke (well the tunnel is cracked) the very rear section is still good.
Now here's my question to you seasoned vets....The front of the tunnel (not really the tunnel but the bulk head)is wore bad from picks hitting it.actuallt broke thru once. There was no bearing failure, but one bolt did snap last season in the front shaft (skid) after a high speed hit.I limped it back...is this the damage from that? Or is something else wrong? It did ratchet really bad before I put the anti-ratchet sprokets in. Is the excessive wear from the ratcheting before I installed the new drive sprokets? The track is a 7/8"lug with 240 picks.Starting to spaz out here ...help me out.

You said it looks like the pics are hitting the bulkhead. Is that what you are reffering to as "wear" or is there other damage to the bulkhead too?

Looks like repeated strikes from studs. No other damage just wear from hitting

I'd say that it's from the ratcheting.

Some could be from racheting, 9 out of 10 bulkheads I see with that kind of wear in from to long of studs. They recomended .875 studs with the stock .750 track which gives you .125 stud exposure. Thats the way my 95 was set up new, not a scratch underneath to this day. Drag track set-up now is .500 lug and 1.100 ice picks,,,, no problem with studs hitting but remember, the shocks are wound tight, virtually no travel. Different than a trail set-up
