Gates Extreme or the Ultimax 2

When I got my sled I had the Gates Extreme on it and the Ultimax for a spare. Ran all season with the Gates with no issues. But will be spending the $$$ on a Yamaha belt just like getting Yamaha products.

I've been running Ulitmax/Ultimax2 belts for many years without a problem. They're easy to get for $20-$40 apiece. Got a new Ultimax2 at Novi last year for $20. Keep in mind that most of my riding is trail riding, with an occasional blast across the lake. If I was racing and blowing up belts all of the time, I would spend the extra dough on the Yamaha belt. I put a new belt on every year at the beginning of the season and have never blown one. Ask AL,P about the condition of my "used" belts.

Good information. I understand the Yamaha's to run a little softer compound for better bite on the aluminum. I figure for trail riding though, I might use the Ultimax, but for the occasional drag race, use the Yamaha. The old trick used to be to rub alcohol on the clutches to GRAB! Later and thanks!

Ike. Over the past 3 years I have visited Helsinki quite a few times. It is the only country that I have come across that can keep up to us Canadians in a Beer Race!!!!

Mark, so you have used Ultimax belts without any problems. Good to hear. I just might get one of those to my spare and backup belts.

Off topic

Yep. We finns are famous of our drinking habits. And I think that is not a good thing... When we drink, we drink until we drop:frech32:

Vmax, what did you visit Helsinki for?
