I have A 1994 VMAX 500 and im planin to take it to the mountains (ALBERTA -ROCKY MOUNTAINS-) How bad you think it will do... also how difficult is it (and expensive) to replace the rear shocks?

do you have a ST? my 600 st with the stock track climbs pretty well, i had it in 4ft powder and it did well in that too. now i dropped the skid and put a 1.5 inch under it. i will see how that makes a differnce.

If you plan on going up in the fall when the snow is fresh and bottomless, you aren't going to go very far. You'll spend most of the day digging yourself out. Short tracks can do ok in the later part of winter if they have an experienced rider on them and the snow is set up and has a base to it. If this is your first trip out, make sure you have friends who know where they are going and take your avalanche gear. People get burried every year.
Good Luck
