Before you go replacing shocks check the spring load tension on the spring all you might have to do is get yourself a spanner wrench and tighten up the spring. If the nut and lock nut is all the way up you have plenty of room.

Those spanner wrenches must be pretty cheep to buy? I guess it would be a dealer item?

That would be all the threading towards the top right? If so you can change the shock settings on the suspension to a laterial hole next to the one it's in or it sounds like the springs are shot. Shocks help with pressure slammed up from the ground, springs deal with pressure downward. Either way you will have to pull the suspension out to fix. There are 5 bolts on each side 1 right at the front by your feet , 1 in the middle for the top track roller and 3 in the back by rear spring/shock. Loosen track all the way first. I would get a exploded view of rear suspesion of of totallyyamaha.com and look at it.

I have the same rear suspension problem. Is it worth the kayaba shocks and springs replacement cost? I've already done the cheap shock drill and that didn't last long.

How about an M10? New shocks and springs are about the same cost...
