ok in the last forum we talked about putting fuel tanks in the seat as i said i was working on making one out of metal well that did not go so great so i thought why not use fiberglass i have worked with it in the past with good results so i bought some resin and cloth and started to make one what i did was peeled the vynl back and cut along the butt rest untill the trunk and foam was free from the front half then i gutted it removed the box and light and plastic bottom so all i had left was the foam then i cut the foam along the bottom of the seat just above the plastic bottom now i was left with what would become the actual size of my tank so i took the foam and layed a layer of fiberglass over it all after the fb dryed i pulled out the foam and added more layers of fb i used a fuel filler nozzle from a jet ski i parted out i am now working on the bottom i still have more work but will post more pictures later

hmmm did someone fix my pictures they are working now as far as putting a skinny tank under the seat that would be easy to add but i dont think i would want to come down off of a big bump on to something i am about 260 pounds so i need as much seat cusion as possible also i forgot to mention i bought some 1/4 inch foam sheeting to glue on the tank so when i recover it will hide all the blemishes and save the vynl

Nice work bench! Got one of those, too. Not the best for welding though.

Message to: dreaming-of-a-vmax-4.... Is there a possibility that you could use your fiberglass tank as a 'molde' for a plastic tank??? I believe you'd have a market for these sleds....I know I'm more than interested....And in the end how big will your new tank be??? 8-9-10 gallons?? Thanx for any feedback you may be able to give......New2 VMax-4
