1998 motor melted

My motor is blown in my srx mtn 700 1998, the question is:
is the motor in the 99 exactly the same as th 98. Can it be oversizew or is it better to buy a motor, I can buy the 1999 motor for 1500$ canadian with mine in exchange.

Its the same engine but I dont know if the electrical connectors is the same. If they arent the same you propably just could use your 98 stators and move over to the 99 engine. But you also could go to www.totallyamaha.net/forums (http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums) under the SRX, VIPER section and ask if the motor and electrical is the same.
