I must say it's pretty cool a site like this exists.

I just purchased a 1992 Vmax4 750 with quad bender pipes. My problem is that the machine bogs on take off. I put 4 new plugs in it last night and did a couple of wide open throttle tests on the lake. I came back and checked the plugs and it looks like the jetting is bang on. The sled screams from the mid range up, so there is no problem there. So I'm thinking this might be a clutching isssue. The guy I bought it from said there is a clutch kit in it, but I'm not too familiar with clutching on sleds. If anyone has some ideas, that would be great. Also, if anyone has a great set-up for a 750 similar to yammiegods 800 set-up, that would be great too.

Thanks guys,
-Jon

Jon,
Here is some information. http://www.vmax4.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1728 I will be trying it in my 93 and from what I have heard, this is the set up!

What's your engagement rpm?

Not that it's important to the bog but what is your shift rpm?

You might want to find the jetting specs for the bender pipes and make sure that your pilots are correct, although it's more than likely a clutch issue.

Engagement RPM is around 4400.

Thanks for the help so far!

vander750 :welcome: to the site. Noticed your location nice to see another Northerner signed up here on the site. Spread the word to others that ride the V-Max4 in your area. Maybe someday we could have a whole bunch of V-4's riding toghether. Would be so cool to see blasting down the trails.

Another thing you might want to check is belt deflection. The machine should be on the edge of creeping away when it is idling. If there is to much clearance between belt and primary sheaves when at rest it will be like taking off in a higher gear.Maybe try putting on a new belt.I like about 10 thou.clearance between belt and sheaves. If you have to much clearance with a new belt you might have to reshim the clutch.

I noticed you were from Sudbury RDL, that's pretty cool. I bought the sled from a guy in Markstay last week.

I'm thinking that belt idea might be a good place to start, quick and easy.

Thanks again for the help.

Hey RDL, you know anyone with a set of stock pipes for sale? These quad bender pipes are nice and loud, but I don't think the cops are gonna like 'em too much on the trail :)

I have 800 pipes for my 93 right now. I have the stock 750 Y pipes and exhaust pipes. Let me know if you want photos of them.

And let me know what your plans are for your Bender Pipes. I could use them on my other V-Max4 I am building.

Hmmm.. If you need to rejet it, and now nothing about how much they cost, there only a couple dollars. We run the stock ones in our 92 Vmax4 with quads and mods, and it has a lot of power.

Hey RDL, send me a pic of the pipes. Do you have everything for them (ie manifolds and resonator)? Thanks for the help. I may get rid of the bender pipes, but I'll have to think long and hard about that one:)

Not in a rush for quad pipes. Sled is still all in peices but hope to have it all togheter by this summer. Still need a few parts to make it all one complete sled.

I have those photos of the 750 pipes will be posting them later tonight. Have to go out of the house right now. So keep an eye out for them later.

Oh and one last thing (resonator) you mean a muffler right? I got one of them too for ya.
