Does anyone here have experience using Solar power???? I am building a new shed for the sleds 12' x 16' and I would like to go with solar panels on the roof to power the tools and lights I will need on the work bench. As I really dont want to have to lay extension cords from the house as its about 100 feet from the house. And i am just wondering if I can use car batteries for the cells???

Buy golf cart bateries online for about 75 each and it will make a much nicer setup. my wifes dad did it and runs there entire camp off from them. 2 pannels and like 6 bats and u can run 4-5 lights all night and other stuff and still hvae juice when u wake up.

I'd be careful, with more people going to solar energy as a way to save money the government is already working on a way to add taxes the sun :muahaha:

LOL!
They have a mushroom cloud machine. But they will wait to use it till everyone has solar power.
After the clouds come, they can just pull out the old adds from 80's & 90's that sold us on Nat Gas and how cheap it is to use!

golfcart batteries....good idea I believe I have to buy a little box that will stop from over charging as well....dont want to screw the batteries. Also will the batteries freeze if they are charging in the winter without heat??? it will be insulated.

no they will be alright in the cold, that is where his are. And yes u will need the over charge box, as it will moniter the volts of the batteries, and the charge % and how much juice u are getting from the pannels. You will also want a small fuse inline to the batteries like a car stereo fuse form 40-100amps, not sure what size tho.

np, my wifes dad is an ex-nasa scientist so he knows what he is doing and set this same system up.

I think they already figured that one out, when they come out to asess for your taxes, your property value will increase, and so will your taxes:banghead: We never really own any property, we just pay the goverment for thirty years, to earn the right to rent it.
