Cool pictures, Doug. Tell Lisa not to stand behind one of those things. I think I'd rather be kicked by a horse!

Bubs,
They are on "our" family farm. There are buffalo, watusi cattle, babydoll sheep, pygmy goats, horses and then the usual farm dwellers..cats, chickens, geese.

See, my mom & step dad own about 215 acres of farm fields, pastures & woods. Before I married Doug I bought a little piece and built the house, kind of right in the middle of everything. So the bison and tusi are almost always right in our backyard!

I help with taking care of all the animals, almost everyday I do something. The only thing I won't do anymore is the buffalo - I used to help handle them but I can't stand the fact that he butchers a bull now and then!!!! As far as the meat, he sells quite a bit - alot to resturants in the area. I've never had it (and never will) but everyone says its awesome. He doesn't butcher many of ours, usually he buys a bull from someone else since we keep our bull for breeding. I will say though, the testicles are a BIG seller (no pun intended) - there are two resturants that they can't keep supplied with them! GROSS!

If anyone is ever in our area feel free to PM - we'd take you around on 4 wheeler and show you everything.
Lisa

I had some soup my father-in-law made me, which had barley mixed with bison heart and it was good. The bison burgers are great!! Now the rocky mountain oysters he can have! Doug

Wow, that is one beautiful place you have there, would'nt think it could be much nicer in heaven. Quite a variety of animals, gotta love the little guys. Big guys are cool too. Would be hard for me to turn one of those into a buffalo burger and there's no way I would eat his nuts. Sounds like that bull you have out there has it made. Must be a helluva job for him, I'm sure he sleeps well after a day with all them girls. I bet you guys sleep well too after a day of taking care of all the scheduled routine

Great pics Doug and Lisa

Nice homestead,Where are you guys in comparison to Lakewood?
Also glad You seem to be recovering from the horse kick.
When we deer hunt we sometimes cook the heart on the open fire and shave it thin,Tasty for sandwich once you get over the fact its a heart.
I will admit that standing around anything you weigh in tons is a bit intimidating to me.Nice to look at but I'd rather be on the outside the of the fence.
Happy Easter Everybody

COOL,bison meat is very good. One of my buddys has a herd of them like 20-30. Last year he sold one of them to another friend of mine cheap, he let him go out and shoot it himself. It was pretty impressive, rolled him right over with the .300 mag. then came the bad part of gutting, skinning and butchering. It kinda reminded me of the texas chainsaw massacre as we were trying to lug huge pieces into his basement to cut up.
