I watched a show on Discovery channel that was about the biggest container ships and they explained these types of engines. The prop is direct drive to the engine. No neutral, no reverse.

That Wärtsilä is a finnish company, what specializes in marine engines. They have lots of cool thing what they produce, like Azi-Pod props. They turn 360 degrees and can be run separetly. That way the big passengerships are nimbel and easy to manuver.

That engine is huge!
