anyone else here interested in Amateur radio or CB radios as a hobby??? I used to be in it back in the late 80's early 90's, but sold some of my gear to finance other hobbies. I just recently pulled out one of my old radio and had it aligned and tuned, its a ranger AR3500 100w model I will be using it with a maco shooting star @ 70' on a tower at my mothers place....gives me something to toy around when not snowmobiling in the winter and I just picked up a modded uniden 2510 last night on ebay last night to use down here in the city, also have a pro 2006 modded with a Opto 456 board so I can operate via pc...:drink1:

I like to collect older cb radios, base stations, older handheld cbs. I
have a cobra 1000 GTL base station my dad found at a garage sale.
I picked up an older Icom IC-R7100 scanner on e-bay. Also a radio
shack pro-94 1000 handheld scanner, and other radios. I also like old
shortwave radios the bigger and older the better. And It drives my
wife crazy!

Right now all I have is a 4ft steel whip on the roof for the cobra.
My icom has a dipole that works good. I had to move the cobra
to the basement it and the computer did not get along as well with
the wife she has no taste. Some time a new tower and a nice antenna willl get put up, Thinking of making my own j pole antenna
or buying one.

Sacha, I used to hang around 26.000 mhz, I havent had anything hooked up since I moved into my house. I will have to get my mobiles into the Avalanches soon.
I didnt have a rotor for the Moonraker, I just used to turn it by hand, LOL
One of these days I will get everything set up again. I have a 40 foot tower to set up now.
Somewhere I have some pics of my old rig, when I find them I will post some.
