Hi guys, this site has been tremendous with the information I have gotten from it. I have one last favor as I rebuilt a rear suspension to be put in a 92 VMax 4 750. Does anybody know the dimensions of all the idler wheels and bearings off hand? Is there a resrouce somebody can direct me to that specify's that? All wheels and bearings are shot, except for the 4 internal wheels (inside bottom). I am looking to get them for a good price, was thinking als snowmobile, but would be happy to support someone else who might be able to help me. Thanks.

Dan,
I got 7'' idler wheels and 5.125'' idler wheels. I will get the bearing sizes once I find them. I did have to use bearing reducers for a couple of wheels, though.
Doug
I had to get bearing reducers for the 7'' ones.

Here's a chart that covers most of the Yamaha idler wheels: http://www.psep.biz/store/yamaha_idler_wheels.htm Stock wheels across the rear axle are 7" diameter and take the 6204-2RS bearings which are 20mm I.D. x 47mm O.D. x 14mm wide. All other stock wheels are 5.125" diameter and take the 6004-2RS bearings which are 20mm I.D. x 42mm O.D. x 12mm wide. Steer clear of the Kimpex idler wheels. They're inexpensive, but the rubber quickly seperates from the aluminum, like after 50 miles or so. I've replaced several of them in the last couple of years.

teer clear of the Kimpex idler wheels. :agree:
I bought a few of them years back and had the same problem. Seems like everything that has kimpex name on it is junk..(just my .02)

Yeah, I bought a dozen because they were cheap and looked just like the stock wheels. I can't wait until I blow them all up so I can get some good ones. I'll probably go back to the stock Yamaha wheels. They're more expensive, but they're better built and the contact area between the wheel and track is flat, not radiused like a lot of wheels are. Maybe that makes a difference.

Thanks guys for the excellent information. Really appreciate it, thanks for the heads up on the kimpex also.
I checked that page out, is that a reputable place to order from? They seem like they have really decent prices? Thanks. I was just gonna go ahead and order them from the site. They seem cheaper than Al's Snowmobile.

Guy's maybe they have gott'n better...I rebuilt the rear suspension on a SRV and used the kimpex idler wheels and rear shox. 100 mile the shox was leaking, the rubber had come off (atleast) a couple idler wheels...wasn't to impressed.....At the same time a bought Kimpex front shox's for it and it rode really stiff. I big difference from stock. I hope the tracks are better...I have never had any experience with them....Maybe you can let us know how the hold up.....after a couple years of use

2004gixxer600 - I don't know anything about the site I posted. I came across it and it had a lot of information so I posted it for reference. I'm sure one of our sponsors would give you a good deal on parts.
Rich - I think Kimpex has an issue with bonding rubber to metal. I don't think that it's a problem with the rubber itself. You probably won't have trouble with that track, but I'd never put one on a Vmax-4!
3ft - I've got some Kimpex idler wheels I'll sell ya' real cheap.:D :D

How about a trade for a rear shox with only 100 miles on it?:fullmoon:

Naah, let's just take them down to the lake and see how big a splash they make.
