Hey everyone who's still hanging on for the summer. I got some pics of the progress I made today, taking out the engine, and of past days, getting the suspension off.
I have a few things I want to ask, I'll let you take a look at the pics first though.
On the first pic, you can see a crack in the rail of the suspension, there is the same crack on both rails, is this something to worry about, should I get new rails?
Anyone know the year or model of this SC-10?
Opinions on the track? Worth keeping? Good shape?
And lastly is this Hauck for short or long cover?
Cheers,
Lewis

More pics
Got a question for the second one, it seemed to be that there was quite a lot of kinda white-ish stuff all around, but it wasn't dusty i.e. didn't come off on finger. haha sorry for quick non-descriptive language, in a rush

Last ones
First one, the bolt broke when I tried to take it off, very easily infact, is it safe to try and drill the remainder out?
Second one, there appears to be quite a bit of this redish stuff, and the shaft is very loose in it's connection.
Just pics of the pipes, they are kinda dusty at the moment, but thought I'd include them anyway
Thanks,
Lewis

Lewis I had the same thing happen to two of my reed block/boot bolts,
I drilled and retapped with no problems then replaced all the bolts with stainless steel cap screws.
As for the 2 piece jackshaft that redish stuff is whats left of the grease,
I would take that apart and inspect the splines on both pieces for wear.
If the splines look good then either shim the chaincase or elongate the pillow
block holes and get the jackshaft asm to be in a neutral (non binding) position.
I am "guessing" the spring is the long...I have been going through this with my sled as well. looks like you have 5 3/4 coils their=long (or something close to that). But I have both(long & short) on a self at home and would be happy to measure them both and let you know for sure.

vmax4rules, Thanks for the advice, stainless is definitely the way to go :)
As for the jackshaft, will follow your directions once again. :D
3ft, if you could check and give me the measurements that would be wonderful.
Cheers,

No one else has anything more to say in terms of the questions I asked?
Lewis
Track dont look bad to me? or atleast i cant see any obvious problems?
as far as the spring, it looks to be a long one to me.
now as far as the suspension/rails, I would diffenantly get them welded.
should`nt be a problem for a good welder with a tig setup.
I dont have a clue what year it is though?

-The crack on the rail should be repaired. I had similar cracks and got both my rails welded for $40 dollars. Get it done so it don't get worse on you and cost more money to fix.
-Not shure on the SC-10 year sorry. Not a Ski-Doo fan.
-Track seams good to run. Nice big lugs on her to bite into the snow!
-Is there any numbers on the spring? I'm not a Clutch expert but someone here will have a answer for you soon.

Keep up the good work. You will sure know your sled inside and out by time you are all done.

Back to the engine again, would anyone have ideas as to why there is this whitish colouring to the intake chamber? And are the rods being rusty a problem, i.e. should they be replaced or just cleaned up?
Oh and it appears there are plenty of 93 parts on my sled including the clutches the pistons, and possibly more.
INLINE4 sent you a PM.
Cheers,
Lewis
