It is a sad day, pat hauck of haucks power sports has decided to quit racing after this year. pat has been racing a vmax4 since they came out, at haydays this year he took first in imp. 800 class with his v4. the same class he won in 1994 on a v4. i just talked to pat a week ago and was joking about him still racing a v4, his comment was that he enjoyed taking it out and beating them up.He is one of the few that still had a v4 in his pits, and still kicked ass on it.

he's probably getting sick of having a hard time finding parts and stuff, and he's probably disgusted with all the new 4-stroke stuff just as I am.
What else can you do?

I live directly across the lake about 1/4 mile from Pat Hauck's house. What else is there left for him to accomplish in drags??? The times have changed since the introduction of the 4-strokes. Everyone Dick, Joe and Harry is now apart of the 4-stroke snowmobile world because many of these companies have been designing and building parts for these snowmobile versions of R-1 motors, ect. I am sure you haven't seen the last of Pat on a sled competing. I know he has been playing around more with the Radar Runs in the winter months with his Supercharged and Turbo sleds. Go up to Cable, WI in early March for the Speed Runs and I'm sure you'll see him with his sleds chasing a radar gun.
And for sure he has no shortage of V-4 parts. Just walk into the race stall of his shop and your bound to see around a dozen V-4 race engines, pipes, ect. sitting around.
One must admit that nobody has done more for the Vmax-4 models than Pat Hauck. He's proven that they are still strong after all these years against anything in its class, even when factory Yamaha didn't want to see V-4's on the track anymore, he kept goin'
