Hi guys,

I'm buying an '03 RX-1 rear skid that has bender quick rods installed. My question is, is this suspension any better than the rear skid that came on the 1997 V4's?

If not I will probably just throw the RX1 skid under my 1995 Vmax 600.

My whole goal is to get the 1995 Vmax 600 to have a decent ride, but if the RX-1 skid is better,I want it under my V4 and I will go through the trouble of removing the current skid from the V4 and placing it under the 95 Vmax 600 and then putting the RX-1 skid under the V4.

Any thoughts?

From what I know, the travel is the same in the -97 and in the -03 (?). BUT since I havenīt ever seen a -97 Vmax4 skid up and close, I might be mistaken.

Anyone else?

OoOo. I thought the RX-1 suspension, was just a tad bigger. ( mabye an inch ), but I dont know. If it was a 92 V4, then I'd know.

After looking around I think they are the same skid with minor differences. Can this be? Did yamaha really not change their rear suspensions between 1997 and 2003? that's a LOOOONG time to go without any kind of an upgrade or improvement.

Everyone loved the 97 suspension including the models that went to trailing arms. By the time 03 rolled around, they were yawning and making comments about the new graphics being the only thing new on some models. Not much of a change except maybe shock setups from 97 to 04.

I wasn't too impressed with the '03 RX suspension, although with the quick rods you can get great weight transfer. They seemed much like the older versions.
Now the '05 version is something else.......
