Well, I currently have one marginal snow wheel kit on my '94 up near the bend in the rails. I have 6 other kits currently not in use (I got hooked up by someone). My questions is I trail ride my machine and I am currious am I going to gain anything from having more wheels in there, rolling vs. sliding the track? And where can I put them to not interfere with the other suspension parts?

Thanks

Dont know? but if I did add more wheels, I`d probley put them behind (towards the rear) of them wheels that are mounted on the outside of the rails, it look as though, between them, and the next set of wheels back, is the biggest gap?
Hey, if you decide to get ride of one of your extra kits i may be interested?

EDIT..on second thought, was just checking out my suspension, and it apears that if you did put them wheels there, it would cause a problem, by hitting the top wheels/suspension frame when you hit hard bumps.

Al, I was looking in there, and if I put them on the inside of the rails it look like it would clear. I am also looking at putting a set in between the marginal wheel kit that is at the bend and the ones in the middle. If I don't use all of them, I will let you know. I was hoping to use one on my exciter II, but there doesn't look like there is room at the bend as just above it there is the suspension arm mounting to the tunnel.

I thought I would post a quick shot of the extra wheels I put on. You can see the marnial kit that I added to the front last spring. I also added two more wheels to the inside of the suspension. It looks like they will clear everything. I figure the more wheels the better. It's better to roll than slide right.

I agree with overdrive. I've got 10 full size wheels plus a couple small ones right up on the front. These are followed by the 2 sets normally found on a 97 skid on the outside near the front. Then I have 3 sets down the inside. All this on a 136 skid. All holes were there and everything works great.

I was just reading an acticle on sliders/snow conditions and the Yamaha engineers were saying that the skid with the least amount of wheels will be the most efficient. Something about the smaller the amount of distortion you apply to the track, the smaller the effect of friction.

That being said, I too have extra wheels on my track for low snow conditions.......

humm..I did notice the new phazers, have next to no wheels, they have three on the rear axle, two on the inside up front, and two on the outside towards the front, so a total of 7, if I`m not mistaken..but personaly, I`m not sure I buy the theory, rolling resistance, is no doubt less the sliding, even if the track was distorted more, it would seam...more wheels would still be the way to go?
