hi guys, curious if anybody knows for sure if all 800 jugs are one and the same....they all share the same part number so i'm gonna assume the're all the same, I wasn't aware of any porting changes, etc throughout the life of the 800....reason i'm asking is because i'm ready to throw a motor together and i need to mix-n-match 95 and 96 jugs to get 4 good ones that don't need replating, thanks for any input!!

If they changed, would'nt the part numbers be superceded?

DAVE, I DON,T BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFFERENCE. I DON,T KNOW IF THIS WOULD CHANGE PART # IF TRUE. YAMAHA SUPPOSELY CHANGED REED PORTS on the 96 800 FOR BETTER FLOW. I BELIEVE IT WAS MAGAZINE TALK TELL YA THE TRUTH. HEY SENDING YOUR SHOCK OUT TODAY. 3:16 (tony)

I look at their numbering system, chaincase for example. The inner on a 750 was like a 8ax and when they switched to the 800, the inner case changed and became a 8ax dash something. Cylinders 8BU, first year 95 800 cyl numbers. Anybody know what the numbers were for the 96 or did they continue with 8BU? From their quality / engineering requirments, anytime there is a engineering change or modification, they will do a revision level on the print and supercede the part number,,,or should.

Thanks a million Tony, I owe ya one

Alex
I looked up all the part numbers for the 95 / 96 / 97 cylinders. They are all the same number: 8BU-11311-00-00
No superceded part numbers
Tells me that the 800 cylinders were all the same
Hope that helps ya
