View Full Version : Chain tensioner
Am I understanding the manual right on this?
Tighten the chain tensioner adjusting bolt to 15ftlbs?

Don't think so. Just let the spring set the tension, then butt the bolt into the adjuster and maybe give it an 1/8th turn or so. Maybe the 15 lb. ft. is for the jam nut that hold the tension bolt tight? I think 15 lb ft would be too much tension on that chain.

Master of Faster is right. The bolt itself should only be finger tight, maybe just a little tweak after that. Then tighten the nut. I think the 15ft/lbs. you see is referring to the torque when you bolt the drive chain housing to the frame of the sled, page 4-21 of my '93 manual.
