rear shock on 79 srx

I happen to notice that my sled has NO bounce to the rear suspension today after removing the stands to keep the track off the floor . It has like 4 inches of free travel in the suspension . So I think the shock is kaput . Is the best way a new shock or can these be rebuilt ? Thanks :frech32:

Yammiegod? You should have the answer... Wayy too old iron for me.

You can not rebuild the shocks . The only thing you can do is buy a Kimpex Gold replacement gas shock. Jeff Wurl

SNOMAN, SHOULD BE VERY EASY TO FIND A REPLACEMENT YAMAHA ONE. THESE SKIDS ARE VERY COMMON. THEY WERE USED ALSO ON THE EXCITERS. CHECK OLD DEALERS, WATCH E BAY, SALVAGE YARDS OR SOMEBODY LIKE WURL MIGHT HAVE EXTRA SKID FRAME WITH SHOCK. 3:16 (tony)
