Now same time you can put newer pistons with window and two lower gasgets and cut the heads and weld the crank and...

I agree with at the minimum upgrading the pistons, must be a 92' 750 engine.
And since you have the case split it would be a wise investment to weld the crank as well.

The cylinder pictured looked like it still had the cross hatching

......some go juice :D
had all that in mind already but for the pistons can i just run a 93 piston instead of drilling a hole? and.... how much do i cut the head?
this is going to be one hell of a project but it will be well worth it in the end

You can put -93 pistons in. Put two layers of base gasgets and cut heads same as much that this extra gasget is thick. Or you can cut even more to reach proper squish clearance.
I don't remember exact numbers, how much you need cut, but i hope someone here can help you out. Anyways i would say your target is 1.3mm / .05inc.

yeah i read that a few times over. so instead of running the head gaskets i can just get the deck on my jugs shaved .010" and a taller base gasket? someone chim in on this
Yep. That is basicly it. It changes the port timing. Ken wrote a good tech info on that.

so if i decide to go .059" for a base gasket...how much do i take off the jugs?

Dave,
Put two base gaskets in and when you have your cylinders installed you can put heads on with old head-gasket to measure your squish clearance. Then you know excactly how much you need to cut. Your goal is around 1.3mm

i did .010 thou on my 1996 vmax4 and the squech area was still good for regular fuel thats shaved on the heads and u should cc them to so they are all the same i got 140 compression on that , so stock is 125
