Last year i had to replace my starter assembly including the pulley on motor. I took things apart today and noticed a little oil around seal. Good /Bad opinions suggestions. I would hate to run this sled down the lake only to find it sucking air into the crank and cooking my brand new Wiseco pistons (along with my new nicasil cylinders). This stuff gets expensive!!!!!!! I did cook a Phazer motor from a lean condition due to a crankshaft seal.. See the pic and let me know what you think. Could it be from rich jetting since i still have fat mains and pilots in from rebuild... Thanks

If you could start it without rsasembleing the pull starter,I would suggest trying to spray abit of ether or something of the like thats combustable at the area of concern. If the idle is not affected theirs a good chance your seal is good,If it revs up when you spray its bad.You could wait to see if anybody else chimes in but thats how I have tried,And so far no meltdowns.

Good idea, gonna try that tomorrow...cleaned it today and ran it for a about 15 minutes and it appeared to stay clean. Thanks for the suggestion.
