just wondering what you guys thought on replacement skies. I have the original steel with plastic skins but they're getting a little banged up. Is there anything better available?
My brother Samueljackson has made -03 RX plastic ski´s to fit his SR-V and his late -96 XT. Those work great. Some here have USI ski´s too on their Vmax´s (Samiralfey has them on his 600).

I've run SLP Ultra-Lites, RX-1 skis, and C&A Pro's.
Ended up breaking the SLPs, RX-1 skis work about the same as the SLPs did, both very well, but the RX-1 skis hold up alot nicer and easier to find carbides for.
In the end the C&A's made both of them look silly, if you wanna carve corners these are the skis for sure, I ran the 6" race skis. A little bit harder to turn when you're off the throttle, but they corner like they're on rails.
If you've got the $$$, I'd go with C&A's but you really can't go wrong with any modern ski when upgrading from the stockers.

I kind of like the looks of the aluminum skis.

Me too plus you can replace the plastic bottoms with different colors if you want .

I don't think the newer saddless RX1 ski will fit. I used the version with the alluminum saddle, and the width of the stock ski saddle is narrower than the vmax ski spindle (the portion of the suspension that connects to the ski), and it does require some grinding on the vmax spindles.
As well, you need to modify the saddle so you don't lose all range of motion on your ski. Using a grinder, I cut a rectangle out of the base of the saddle to gain most of the range of motion back.
If you don't mind using a hand grinder its not a big job, just a bit tedious making sure all the measurements are good.
Overall the ski performs much better over stock, with the deep keel on the RX1 ski giving you better deep snow turning abilities, and the effort it took to do the mod is definitely worth the performance gains.

I really dont want to grid anything on the spindle, I was told by MOF that the saddle must be cut out at the bottom and grind some of the plastic away for a good fit.
