Hello to you guys!
Tomas from Sweden here.

I just thought I would share my project with you since we share the same obsession for the old wonderful Vmax4.

I have a -96 Vmax4 ST (mountain max...)
This sled in undergoing some "small" modifications... :-)
Came across a 53 series turbokit last year and thats when everything started. Since then I have been looking for a sled to put these stuf on.
So in december I found what I was looking for... the 96 V4 ST.
Now the project has started a couple of weeks ago. with many obstacles to override since it is an old sled that has had many miles on it...
Started to instal the kit an when it came to fueling I sawhat the fuelpump included in the kit wasn't working.... :-(
Found a pump from a Mercedes that we installed (temporarily of course) and then it started... Sounds awesome!!!
So by now I "just" have to sort out some clutching that can work.
Found 4 cracks in my secondary clutch... :-( Will put in a modified viper secondary instead...
Changed the primary cover to a "tall cover" so I have a wider range of springs to try... Will keep you uppdated as the work progresses.
will add some pictures for you to see as soon as possible...
the ones I had are too big.

Hello again!
Thought I should update you about the latest....
Have got my clutch springs an my tallcover for the primary.
The secondary is in for machining, will be ready middle of next week.
Am going to do the install and new testdriving next weekend... (hope it doesn't break... :2dontknow ....)

Will get my new clutchweights next week (I hope...)
Ordered them from your country... (all good things come from USA... or Japan...)
I have my sled 600 miles from where I live so can't work on it when I want... But am moving there in the beginning of april...
Am going to install a SLP stutterbox to avoid piston meltdown...

Will inform you about my progress after next weekend

Hello!

Have been riding the whole weekend with my turbomax :-)
And it is still not broken....
Have some problems though...

1. Can't get the boost I intend (must have a leak somewhere..)
I only get 0,3Bar when riding on the trail and 0,4Bar when riding in the powder (riding powder is awesome... It just goes faster and faster and if you find some slopes to climb it will wheelie like crazy.)

2. My clutching was a bit wrong. The springs I have ordered where to soft in the start for my Dalton weights. not getting me enough rpm for takeoff...
Did put back my welded 8BU-weights (59grams) and the new spring together with the tall-cover got almost 5000rpm for engage. which was ok.
But with 0,4bar it will overrev and on 0,3bar it will rev 8400rpm.

So on the whole I am very satisfied. But lots of testing left before it runs like I want. And the problem for me is TIME and as I wrote earlier the distance to my sled.

Adding some pictures.
As you can see all my friend are running new Arctics but my sled gets the most attention wherever we go......
Everybody comments to the sound.....

I might be looking at the photo wrong...but it looks like your boost bottles (balance tubes) are blown off cylinder #3...could just be the photo.

turn bottles around then you have more room.
