Burned up a piston...

I borrowed my exciter to a friend and result was that he drove too long too careful. Engine was lean at midrange because we had a cold day, about -20c.

This happened even I warned him, and told him to pump trhottle when easing off.

Don't forget there were allot of Exciters that had the wrong needle in the carb right from the factory and woulf fry a piston at part throttle. See bullitins for retro jetting and get the updated needle as they were to be replaced. Drive it wide open and they were fine ----- just like a Yamaha !!!
