I HAVE TOO SAY THAT THOSE GUYS RUNNING THAT APPEX SHOWED THAT VMAX 4 AND TYLER THE UPMOST RESPECT. THEY DID NOT WANT TO GIVE A INCH. WOW!! I can't believe a $12,000 120 horse vmax4 did so well LOL!!! Shows how un-educated the general population is about sleds. Good job none the less but I am surprised that he took a heads up race the first round against a guy spraying his sled. I know I would have figured him to be hitting that attak with at least 100 horse shot, that puts him well above where that max probably was with those psi's (I'm guessing 180-190 tops). I am not slamming here by any means that max was working awwesome and I was'nt there, I'm just throwing it out to get other opinions. Both guys did an awesome job!I did notice complaint of pulling right, same issues I have with my 95 max drag sled

Tony at 100 horse shot Terry was probably only revving 10,000 off spray if he was lucky, no way would he take that race!! I'd love to know how long he had to hit the juice down the track and what kind of times they were running. The beauty thing of nitrous is this: I raced many sleds this year on my juiced rx, alot I beat on motor and the others you run as long as you can on motor and then when you need it BAM instant horse, see ya. Thats the way those runs looked to me only alot closer than expected which leads me to believe that that vmax4 is damn fast and suprised Terry(nos-pro)

I taped it, and it looks like that last run was more like 3/4 to 1 length. At those speeds you have to freeze frame it to really see how close it was.

Great job to both Terry and Tyler, on one of the best races in general I have seen on this show. That Max 4 was no slouch. Sounded great too! :rockon:

Ski-Doo is doing some amazing things across the board. Have you seen what they did with their new outboards? They are smashing the competition with these new E-tec motors and guess what,,, THEY ARE TWO STROKES. The four strokes are heavy, drops the back of the boat in the water way more than they should. Some of the manufacturers of new boats that I know are having a real problem with the weight of these new motors, inability to get the boat to float correct and are switching brands of motors for the weight reduction. 442 pounds on a 800 sled will be tough to beat. It is obvious that Bombardier is NOT going to jump on the 4-stroke band wagon.On top of KILLING the other brands from a performance standpoint lets look at emissions: Mercury Super-Charged Virado 4-stroke: 57000 parts per million. Yamaha 4-stroke: 37000 parts per million. E-tec two stroke: 600 parts per million!!! And we are all changing over to 4-stroke technology for environmental issues????? WHATEVER

Bro J, that motor will run for eternity at 1200 rpm's with absolutly NO oil. The cylinders are boron nitride impregnated. You don't even need to break the motors in,,,,just shit and git. Got about 70 hrs in rigging done and hav'nt put a dent in it. Will finish soon so sharpen your hooks. Winny would b a great place for us to start. What date is the walleye opener in Minnesota??

YA, I own a 96 MM 800 and i thought to myself? UHHM.. that what a great investment...i paid 1700 for mine..and now that PINKS told the public its worth 12K...SWEET! great race and who knows? no spray = tyler has a new blue sled.

Just looking over the TY Forums and must say that it can get a guy a little fired up (being a V-4 owner)! I see members calling our sleds dinosaurs and quoting statements about the Vmax-4 and clearly have no basis to back it up or real knowledge of the V-4.

I think its funny how 4 years ago nobody was ridding 4-strokes and now these guys strut with the bloated chest syndrom. If it wasn't for deep pockets and a little invention called a Turbo and N20 what would you have??? Nothing more than a clean burning, smooth rider for cruising Yellowstone Park. I know many of you own these new 4-strokers and I'm not trying ruffle your feathers...they are a great sled.

I think it was an excellent feat for a quad piped Vmax-4 to hang with a sled that is a decade newer injecting NOS. Lets see... a 170-180 h.p. Vmax-4 vs. a what??? 200-220 4-stroker...you do the math, LOL!

Whats real funny is that you would swear that Vmax-4 was 250 h.p. the way (some) of the TY guys are trying to cover the narrow margin of loss! Either way my hats off to the dinosaur with roller skates and rubber track!

Ya, just get a little disgusted with the TY forums every now and then. Seems like it is a ass-kissing session and self promotion for Simon's and if it doesn't have a 4-stroker it ain't shit. First I would agree that was an excellent feat , however being an owner of both a Vmax4 and an Apex GT I disagree with the Yellowstone remark. The Apex does quite a few things better than the Vmax4 as well it should being 11 years newer. Although, if you were to compare the original price's the Vmax4 should out perform the Apex. The reason I wanted the Apex over the MachZ was longevity not speed, which by the way my wife gave me the Apex for Xmas last year . After getting my Apex dialed in it was a hugh surprise. I have beat a couple of 05 Machz, 1000 Renegade, 900 Cat, F-7's, SRX's,Rev 800's, and my Vmax4. So if beating those guys flying over the bumps and revving 11000 rpms is a Yellowstone cruiser than so be it. In no way am I saying the machine is fast it just performs way better than I and others expected . I do think however if my Vmax4 had the original suspension and not the XT suspension it would have taken the Apex. By the way both machines are stock no turbo, yet.

It is also funny to hear the complaints about the turbo's. For years the 5.0 guys all bitched about Grand Nationals with turbo's now look at what the 5.0 guys are running.

I will also say that I was screaming at the tv in favor of the Vmax4 and will never get rid of mine. You are also wrong about the bloated chest syndrome, I have the bloated belly syndrome.

I still ride my sled everyday... Just did over 630 km´s with it in 3 days here. Companied by RS Rage and RS Vector Mountain. And I loved every second of it.

Yes, the V4 really sucks on bumps, uses lot of gas (twice the amount of the 973cc 4-stroke engine in the same distance) but my sled spanks them everytime in WOT run...

But in the Pinks runs you got to give the ole V4 credit: still runs with in few ft with the 100 nos shot Apex... With the stock skid and with the quad pipes.

Don't know what the PINKS! horsepower specs were on the two opposing sleds but anytime you spray, its quite a real advantage over naturally aspirated.

Hide sight is 20/20, I'd love to see a quad piped V-4 in the same fashion against an Apex with exhaust and intake mods pushing around 180 or so h.p. without N20. Now thats a comparable race.

Eitherway this is still good for the industry...hats off to both participants!

I felt the comparison had already started so I was just replying to it and the remark that if a 4stroke did not have a turbo it is just a Yellowstone cruiser. I never said my Apex was bad just stated some of the outcomes. The only Vmax4 I have raced is my 95 with the XT suspension kit they offered in 96 which really slowed the machine down. This summer I am going to put the stock suspension back in change the gearing and line them up again next winter to see what happens, I think the Vmax4 may win.

When I was in Cedarville with some friends with race sleds I decided to enter my Apex , they put me in the 600 triple class so I definitely do not think its anymore than just a great all around reliable machine. That same weekend on ice, was on my stock Apex with trail studs and got my ass handed to me by a stock Rx1 with chisells. That's my problem not his, a win is a win and I am not into if I had this or if I had that it would of been different.

I am a big Vmax4 fan and thought it was great it performed so well on PINKS, the ending just made me want to puke
