Hey guys, was looking into maybe getting a dirtbike for next summer with my dad, what do you guys think about a 2002 (which ever is earliest year) Honda CRF450R? I know it's not a yamaha, but whatever, I already have 2 yamaha's so I think I'm supporting okay :) Do you think it would have too much power for me? I am about 5, 7, 140 lbs.
Thx, Lewis

If you are an experienced dirt bike rider it should be fine. If it would be your first bike then I would have to say that its probably too much bike. That's a big bike for anyone under 6' to ride, IMO.

I guess it depends on your riding ability, I had a 1984 YZ490 and it was one hell of a bike....meaning gobbs of torque and HP (62hp to be exact) and I am only 150lbs and 5' 10" but I still wanted more power........damm I miss that bike

Yeah, skill level is a big one, but so is riding conditions. It depends alot on how you want to ride. Personally, I think the smaller more agile bikes are more fun in tighter condtions, and if you're riding in open spaces I'd rather be on a quad.

Lewis,
I have to agree with Master and SRV. I would hope the dealer would be able to help you make a choice on a bike, just be honest about your experience on a bike.

Yeah I have ridden my buddies kawi 125 (bored to a 210) and some other 250 four-strokes, but I would be looking for a used bike, also my dad would be more down with it if I made it road-legal, but it would need to be fast enough to keep up with traffic, 120 kmh, with supermoto tires on it. Was looking into a early 2000's Husaberg 400 enduro too, any suggestions would be nice, although I would not be able to spent over 2500-3000 cnd.
Thx Lewis

If your an experienced rider, you should get a YZ 250... Or somethin' like that.. I've never ridden a dirt bike myself, just the back of a motorcycle...
