Belt position

I have an 95 and a 95 Vmax. On both sleds the belt is sitting about 1/8 below the top of the secondary; I have been told this is normal for the Yamaha’s, is this true.

Also, the 94 engages at about 3800 RPM ; which is perfect. My 95 (which my wife rides) engages at about 5000 RPM. This sled has a Polaris clutch on it and I have tried changing the primary spring and I have also tried a new belt but it does not seem to make much of a difference. Would shimming the secondary to bring the belt higher help in this situation? Any advice would be appreciated; my wife is going to end up smacking into something…..

Should I just try to find a standard clutch and replace the Polaris clutch?

Thanks

Belt is to low.Should sit 1/8 above. It's like starting in 2nd gear the way you have it now.

What models are the sleds that you have, are they Vmax-4's or are they 500/600 Vmax's? Also what kind of belts are you running, are they cogged on top?
