I think I have snow getting on the clutches and thats causing the belt to slip. Is this possible. It only happens when I am breaking a new trail in fresh snow. Otherwise, when I go back across the trail I had just broken, it hooks great and never does it. Is there any way I can stop this.
Thanks

YA !! STOP BREAKING TRAIL WITH A VMAX 4. YOU MUST BE RUNNING IN SOME PRETTY DEEP SNOW. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Had the same problem with my '95, if you were able to put your sled up on the muffler side, check out the gap between you belly pan and your side cover on your clutch side. Right below where the secondary is see if you can stick your fingers between the belly pan and the side panel where the side panel has a step in it by the pin. I would get so much snow in my clutches that it looked like someone shovelled it in there and it was coming from that 1.5" gap, filled it in and can play in the snow all day.

I just got through with this same thing. You'll find a gap at the bottom where the pins hold your side panel on. My brackets were bent wrong so I just took the panel off and adjusted the bracket a little. Works great now. Good luck!

Also make sure your clutch vents are closed.

Here is a picture...do you think this is enough snow to cause the problem....if so...any idea where its getting in at?

Yeah your snow is getting in right below your secondary between your side cover and belly right by the pivot pin
