Just wanted to throw this bit of information out to those of you who may be interested.

March 8th, 2008 will be the official date for the "Weenie Roast" at Lakewoods in Cable, Wisconsin. As many of you may have heard us talk about this event over the years past. It is truly one not to miss!

Saturday (8th) will be the start of the 1000' Speed/Radar runs. The track is typically excellent with long shutdown and the use of timing lights. I believe class winners recieve very nice trophies, classes from Stock to Open Mod). I believe the top speed last year was set by Simon's CPR turbo sled owned by Jack Henricks running 146-149 mph in 1000' followed by I believe Pat Hauck with a Turbo RX-1 running 138 mph.

Immediately following the speed runs will begin the 660' ice drags with timing lights. These are "Outlaw" rules meaning you hopefully get matched up with someone slower than you. There is also a looser bracket where the bracket winners will face off at the final. I believe the winners last year was Matt Quigley with a Pro Stock 1600+cc PSI tripple on NOS, followed by a Henrick's owned Simon's CPR Turbo sled for second place.

Then you have the "Outlaw" Snow Drags going on throughout the entire day next to the speed run track. These are 1000' drag races typically lining up 2-6 wide for 1000', pure braggin' rights with speeds over 130+ mph. I am thinking the big 3 to watch for this event will be Glenn Hall with his F1200 Turbo, Pat Hauck with the "Baby Hemi", and Curt Wald (Vmax-4) with his new Aerodyne Series 66 Turbocharged Vmax-4.

As we've previously stated, this is also one of the largest gatherings of Vmax-4's that you'll ever find. Typically you'll see 20-30 various V-4's driving around the lake. If you come to race, better bring a big gun...or if you just want to come and mess around the lake for the day, thats a blast too. Anyways, hope many of you Vmax-4 members will make the trip this time, well worth it. I think Nate B was the only "long distance" member that made it last year. If you need more info. just post here, there are different members that can give you info if needed.

Have a great one,
Quadzilla

Is there a good place to park and unload? I know it gets a little crazy around lakewoods.

Yes, you can park right by the track or across the road from the lodge...plenty of space, ice thickness is around 26-30 inches now.

Boy, I hope that some of the Vmax4 boys from here that attend can take some good pics, especially of a gathering or group shot for those of us
who are too far away.

That would be awesome to get a couple nice shots of 20-30 Vmax4's all sitting together!!:4fzfpi:

Race shots are great too!!!:653:

I will be staying at a condon right up the road from lakewoods its part of telemark called red apple club but its right on the lake.

Get 'em tuned up guys!

For you stock Vmax-4's that want to run in the speed runs they will have 800 Stock, 900 Stock, and 1000 Stock. I think last year the top 800 stock speeds were around 115 mph in 1000' when I looked at the board. Those speeds were posted by Cat F-7's. Then for the other Improvers they have
IS800, IS900, IS1000 which top IS800 speeds are now around 120 mph in 1000'. You can bump classes as well $25.00 for 4 runs per class.

Or.....

If you want to get involved and be competive in the "outlaw" snow drags I'd say you'll need to be running around 125-130 mph in 1000' (clean ice) and if the lake is groomed "snow" around 125 mph in 1000'. All depends on lake conditions!

Look forward to meeting some of you guys, glad more are making the trip north!

So lets hear it! How many of you guys coming to run in the speed runs/ radar runs and how many for the snow drags???

Don't be intimidated by the speeds, come out, make 4 runs and enjoy the day on the lake, AND not everybody runs big speeds, sure some of you guys can find some great "grudge" snow drags against REV's, F7's and ect. Let 'em see what the old dogs can do! You can lineup against anybody you want to!

You'll also get a chance to watch Curt (Vmax-4) rip 'em up with his new Aerodyne Series 66 Vmax-4 in the snow drags.

I'm booked for a Saturday night stay in Hayward. I'll be bringing my SX. I got a feeling that the 750 isn't going to be done.

So who is hookin' up and where?

Not sure whats going on Justin. Flateus (Nate) is working on the old ladies ski-don't when he should be working on the pro-stocker. Burmeisters close to firing his pro-stocker, hopefully this weekend. Brutus has to go to linemans school that week so no one to run the stocker. Boy has to take his wife to visit her mom so nobody to run the mod SRX. If I get the improver fired up this week I might wheel over with that and I think Brakes will probably go too. Hate to show up without test time, its like bring'in a knife to a gunfight although the stocker was fresh out of the shop last weekend, no test time and won all its classes so we'll see what happens. Might run over just to see that BAD ASS turbo of yours run!!

Sure hope you guys will make it...Sounds like it will be a excellent turnout this year as guys are coming from all over the midwest for Braggin' rights!

Yea!! I got to get ahold of the Michigan boyz and see if they are still planning to come. They were supposed to be at my place on Thursday and leave to go up by you guys on Friday. The world series was rained out on Sunday so they rescheduled to finish on March 8th and 9th. From what I understand, it may end up being only grudge racing for that weekend. I'll get ahold of Hen and give you a call

I hope to be over there for that weekend also. I think I can talk my neighbor into going. He also has a 92. We might stay up by clam lake and just ride down to lakewoods sat am. It would be nice to get a group photo of vmax 4's.

Hey guys were less than a week away! Were done testing the Turbo Speed V-4 as of yesterday and laying down some big 1000' speeds...still holding together, LOL with 3 more pounds of boost to increase if needed!

Finished up Curt's Aerodyne Series 66 Snow Drag sled on Friday morning at 4:00 am and it should be going on the dyno as we speak.

Looking forward to seeing some old vmax4.com faces and meeting new, it is my understanding that there are racers coming from Wis, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, MN, and Michigan. Not to mention Simons CPR, Haucks, D&D and others.

I'm not sure but I am going to be there around 10am Sat and stay overnight in Hayward.

I'll have my SX700 with the Hauck sticker on the windy.

I do have a question though. Are the sound cops going to be out in heavy force? She is a bit loud with the pipes on it. I have a silencer that i'm goinbg to bring just in case.

I plan on being there around ten. Should I drive right out on the lake or what. I guess I need a spot to unload or just park my van (red Venture) and trailer.

This must be a big event if they're out already.

The Weenie Roast was a great time as usual with a very strong turn out, many fast sleds and good racing! They didn't have a class for our turbo sled to run in so we had to enter for "Top Speed" of the day. Curt's best run was a 141.9 mph in 1000'...we seemed to have a problem with bleeding off boost thru the blow-off valve when we tried running high boost, problem will be fixed. Kind of sucks considering we ran a 148/149 mph the Sunday before this event, but thats just racing, LOL! Top speed was Anderson Racing (Anderson Chassis) with a open mod laydown running 156 mph in 1000'. There must have been over 20 turbo RX-1 and Apexs, couldn't believe how many. The Simons CPR/Henricks Racing sled ran 141 mph and came close to flipping right over.

Curt's sled finished up at 5:00 am the morning of the event due to a turbo bearing failure on the dyno. He managed to make a few shakedown runs at lower boost and even put a hurtin' on a few sleds until he found a hole in the heat exchanger leaking antifreeze, but I was satisfied for first time out with no tuning.

As far as the well known 1000' outlaw snow drag racing at Lakewood's, Pat Hauck with the "Baby Hemi" laid claim to being top dog again this year. It was nice meeting some of you and putting names with faces. Look forward to seeing you guys next season.

What exactly is this "Baby Hemi"? I have heard it referred to several times, but have heard nothing more about it. Was Pat's sled the official ET winner, or was it "heads up" racing?

quadzillaracer
03-09-2008, 12:36 PM
Pat's "Baby Hemi" is an '04 RX-1 Warrior, Hauck lightweight front end, one of his big bore RX-1 engine setups...(I believe he's around 1200-1300cc as per his kit) and yes Turbocharged. The racing is pure outlaw "snow drags" for 1000' no 660' stuff here! A guy drops his arm and they are gone.

His "Baby Hemi" runs extremely strong.
