View Full Version : Hello from N.E. Wisconsin
Great web site. Lots of info here. I own a 1997 vmax-4 that I bought brand new 1996. It has been a great sled. Ten thousand miles, two blown tracks, one shock, one W bar, numerous bearings and bushings, and it's still a strong runner with the new sleds. I've pounded the hell out of this machine and the only time it left me stranded i was 100 feet from the gas pump and out of gas. One blown track was up in Michigan heading south from the Buckhorn. Wide open down the trail and the track flies apart. Fiberglass rod went thru my snowflap and that was only hanging on by one pop rivet. Limped it 60 miles back to the trailer. Pretty cool to see people gaulking when you pull in somewhere or to watch them sit on there sleds waiting for you to start yours so they can hear it run before they take off. The only thing not stock on my sled is the track and some home made suspension parts. If I ever break down and get a new sled I'd like to clean it up, fix the minor nicks and scraps and put it into semi-retirement as a back up sled. Regardless I'll never part with it.

Welcome to the club! :schild27: :schild27: We see a lot of new members who have bought their sled used and don't know it's history. It's pretty cool that you know what your sled has been through since it was brand new. This is the best place on the web for Vmax-4 information. Post some pictures of your sled if you get a chance. We love pictures!

Welcome to the site and great story!
The other night i noticed whenever i got on the brakes i was seeing sparks coming off of it. Not alot but some here and there. The brake pads look great and the rotor looks good but wobbles a little on the shaft. Is this just metal particals in the brake dust burning off?

No. there shouldn't be sparks. That indicates metal to metal contact somewhere. Unless there is such a thing as metallic brake pads similiar to automotive style. But I have never heard of 'em. A close inspection may reveal grind marks on the brake components showing where the contact is.
