Hello, my name is Robert...everyone calls me Rob. I am 32 yrs old, father and husband to my 2 beautiful girls. I live in a small town in upstate N.Y. called Schuylerville. I am a so-called "Dairy Farmer" and own my own construction business as well as a tattoo shop, (SkinfulTat2). Lets see, I am new to this forum stuff, but from what I hear there are alot of good guys on here that can be of great help...something I need.
As far as hobbies go...hmmm??? I started out on dirtbikes when I was about 10. When I was 17 I cased a double with a 100 foot or so gap. Broke my arm, wrist, collar bone, 3 ribs, my right hand and had a headache for 6 months. To say the least I quit riding. I've always messed with sleds but not deeply. after a few yrs I got into 4 wheelers and just recently my friend Timmy got me into snowmobiles. I traded my truck for a 92 VMAX 4. It was pretty much set up for ice racing I believe, shaved track 330 studs and it runs great wide open but loads up 1/4 -1/2 throttle. Well enough of that here, I'll get into my problems with it where appropriate. Just hoping to meet some cool people and get some knowledge from the people who know best. Thanx

Welcome to the site, Rob. :welcome: :welcome: Sounds like your '92 is a screamer. Post some pictures for us if you get a chance.
This is the place to be for Vmax-4 information. Ask anything and somebody here will have an answer for you.

If it is setup for ice racing (ie speed runs or drags) it is probably just the clutches overshifting while running at cruising speed. Mine is the same way. It isn't clutched for any backshift. All upshift.

I would start with some of the setups some of theses other guys are using on the trails. Do some digging on this forum. I know there are some good setups available. It's a place to start, anyway.

thanx that helps out alot. I'm going to try this set up with the clutches but keep everything else the same. I like where my sled is at right now as far as take off and top speed hopefully this will give it the backshift I need for them hills

That's a good way to do things and keep doing things...one thing at a time. That way you KNOW what worked and what didn't. It helps alot to keep a log on what you changed and all of the different combinations and calibrations. I even write down temperature and wind conditions.
Good luck and let us know how things work.
