Hey Guys,
I got a new toy for $1300 plus a stroker piston kit so about $1700. Has a 440 runs and drives. A little rust but not to bad. Needs some work. I started workng on it awhile ago. Put new sparkplugs in it and a new airfilter runs a bit better. The guy I got it from said it was an earlier 440 so that would make it a 375 hp 480 ft lb car. My dad and I are not sure it may be a later model with the 275hp 380 ft lbs but still this car moves pretty good and does a decent burnout. The guy I bought it from is into restorations and wants thhe stock headers and exhuast off it and will trade me a set oof aftermarket header and exhhaust for it will probably use the headers and have a local shop put dual flowmasters on after that. He also has an edelbrock torquer intake manifold for it. Those two plus an aggressive camshaft with theh 275hp I should be around 400hp but with the 375 hp should be close to 500 hp. Any way here is a pic

I had a room mate once that had a 74 Charger. I think it had a 318 in it but it was the same color. Seeing yours brought back some memories. Good luck with your project.

Very nice project!! I couldn't even imagine getting into a project that big. It sure doesn't look in bad shape. Good luck with it.

yeah thanks everyone, it should be fun project picked up some nicer valve covers than stock they are Mickey Thompson aluminum ones. I need to find an aftermarket intake like an edelbrock performer idle -5500 or torquer 1500-6500. If anyone has anything like that for a 440 lett me know I also would like a performance cam. The guy gave me economy intake manifold from edelbrock with no performance gaiin he thought it was a torquer at first. Thanks,Justin

too bad you live so far away, my brother does killer performance engine machining, has THE premier cam guy, and does REAL engine rebuilds, not the typical Chevy "performance rebuild" junk....AND he and the guys in his shop eat, live and breathe Mopar!!!!! 440 is OK for buildup, if you can get your hands on a 400 block that's the hot ticket for an economical stroker buildup (600+ RELIABLE hp on pump gas).....

had a complete engine 400 and a Keith Black kit to stroke to 451 but decided tto just hop up the 440 there was going to be quite a bit of money into it.
