What is the best way to remove old rivets before installing new ones?

I use an electric bench grinder to grind the rivets flush with the weights. After that they punch out easily with a hammer & punch.

Thanks guys I will be putting the rivets in this afternoon to see if my setup is better with my Hauck Blue spring. I'm hoping to get my peak RPM lower right now I'm at 8600+. Good advice on the beer, put I may not follow it!

I'll let you know shortly I'm just about to peen over the rivets. I don't know the history of my 94 Vmax4 so I have no idea what the guy that owned it before was doing. I am following Yammiegods setup and the rivets are my last step to complete it.

Thanks to everyone.

By the way I was getting ready to grind out my rivets with an angle grinder when it dawned on me to use my skate sharpening machine - it worked perfect!

I just got in been away at hockey all night. I had a short test run though before we left and here's what happened.

Engagement 4500 RPM

Max RPM not any higher than 8400 and maybe slightly lower

I'll post more tomorrow. I have to chat with some airplanes first thing in the morning so i better get some rest.

Thanks Yammiegod!

I need to do some more testing tonight but here is a recap of my clutching changes.
Before and after switching to Yammiegods setup

BEFORE

stock primary spring
89a-10 weights unknown rivets
secondary stock spring at A3
39 degree helix (looked beat up)

engagement 3600
peak RPM 8600-8700

I had never owned a sled like this before so even with this setup it felt great

AFTER

Hauck blue short spring
short cover
89A-10 17.2 inners 13.9 outers
42/37 helix at B3

engagement 4500
peak RPM less than 8400 (was hard to tell exactly because only had a short time to test, will try again tonight with the tach taped at 8350 to see if I go over or not)

This setup is exactly as advertised and is completely different from my original setup it is truely awesome! I can't wait to get out tonight and do some more driving!!!!

Thanks to everyone - will report back in a day or two.
