I am in the process of rebuilding my spare 800 motor, the the problem is a bad rod, I have got a new rod,rod bearings, crank bearings, and seals and gasket set, and these parts are not cheap.....over $400 canadian. I am still after 3 800 cyclinders to complete the motor, what I am wondering is when I get the rod installed on the crank should I have the cranks welded and balanced while its out of the motor??? I am also going to have the bottom end and cyclinders bead blasted and cleared so it will have a nice glossy look!

Only reason you should need to weld them is if you're gonna spin some high R's. If this isn't a race motor then there is no need. Whoever installs the new rod should true the crank up when they're done.

good luck finding them 3 cylinders i have been looking for about a year and still nothing as far as welding goes no you do not have to weld the 800 cranks only the 750s were a problem

Like master said, crank guy should true it when reassembling! Have the other one inspected at the same time. If you need one of the best cransk guys around, let me know. He's right in WNY and does cases too. Good luck finding those cylinders, easier to find a complete motor!...Blue

Can an 800 crank be put into a 750, so that there is no need for welding? May sound like a dumb question, I don't know, I haven't taken apart my engine yet so I would not know.
Thx, Lewis

Remember that you really only need to weld the 750's if you're going with a high rpm set of pipes (over 9000), or maybe if you're really cranking up the compression. I've got 6,000 miles on a stock 750 crank with PSI quads no problem.
