The XTRA-10 suspension is in, and working! First ride around, no ratcheting. Heated up the primary clutch a lot, then we loosend the track a little, and no more problems... Heres a couple pics... There a little dark cause we drove it in the dark, and the pics were takin when it was pitch black.. And the flash isn't that good on the cam..

lets see some pics in the daylight, so we can get an idea of what it looks like. Looks to me that youn used the stock rear mounting holes?

It's an Xtra-10 suspension.. It was a pain mounting it in there... For extra track support, we also used to vmax4 top bogey wheels, and the bar that holds them on, and it worked great.. We had washers for sapcers... I'll get some pics of the sled when I get home tommorow. ( Pics will probably be on tommorow, 4:00pm, -5 GMT )

Ya, they were the stock holes.. We had to use 1/2 inch spacers on each side.

I bet she'll ride nice now Sean. How much do you think you'll lose off the top end with the xtra-10?

I am new to this,I have a 93 vmax-4, and would like to know after doing the install, would you use the Polaris suspension again? I'm thinking about doing the same.any info. would be great.thanks for the pics.

I'll post some pictures of the brackets, and info on how we did it soon. Yes, I would say that the xtra-10 suspension, is MUCH BETTER than the old V4 Yammie suspension.. If we got another V4, under 1997, I would recomend putting an x-10 suspension in it... The sled goes great off jumps, and doesen't hurt your back, un like the old suspension..

Without a doubt, it's the easiest suspension to install... You only need to drill 2 holes.. And it looks really cool.. And, it looks and rides great.. Now that I've done it once, I could probably do it in 1 or 2 hours...

I've heard of other suspensions ratcheting, and this one worked great, and used to stock V4 track.. It's like going from a shopping cart, to a caddilac..

If you want, they also have an M-10 mounting kit, but I don't think I could help you with an M-10, cause, I didn't use the M10.. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-YAMAHA-FAST-M-10-MOUNTING-KIT-M10-92-93-VMAX-4_W0QQitemZ7197938391QQcategoryZ26356QQssPageNameZ WD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Sean, you just put that suspension in a couple weeks ago, and to the best of my knowledge, you have`nt really had any snow yet. so how can you say how great it is on jumps, and also, how would you know about ratcheding, when you probley have`nt gone over 20mph around the bard yard with it yet?

Not trying to be mean to ya, but maybe you should hold off on the review until you get some miles on with it.

We've done about 50 on the speedo, in are yard, on snow.. Mabye put a coulpe miles on it.. I set up a jump for my sled in my back yard, and my dad hit it, first time, he flew, 2nd time, he took the center of the jump out by digging into it, with the throttle to the handlebars..

I got behind him on are drivway ( which, the snow got all dug up by the sleds, and now there was only a small lair of snow, and lots of gravel. ), he grabbed the throttle, even with my gloves on, a rock hit my thumb, and my thumb hurt for 20 minutes or so.. VMAX4's HAVE MUCH POWER! BEWARE!

I have a feeling your vmax 4 aint gonna survive the winter if your going to be doing "jumps" with it. not saying others dont do it, but it seams that they usually do it in very deep powder, and steep mountain trails, which i would think tend to soften up the landing quite a bit. doing jumps, and landing on the hard ground with a couple of inches of snow on it, seams to me, to be a quick way to end the riding season on a vmax 4.

Don't worry.. It wasn't anything like a sno-x jump.. Just mabye, 2 feet of air.. But it did glide, and come down smooth..

thanks Sean, any pics and measurements would be a great help.I want to put one in very soon, before I have to miss the start of the season.did you have to relocate the stock bogey set-up to use it? and did you use back-up plates on the tunnel? thanks, this is a fantastic site!!!

I did not have to relocate the bogey wheels. They popped right in... Yes, I did use back up plates.. We rivited on some aluminum plates.. I got them 2.35 USD, for each aluminum plate.. I did not have a riviter, so I bought one at the hardware store for 10 bucks.. The only thing I'd do different, is I used aluminum rivets, I probably would of used steel..
