Sports fans.................a question?
lve got some aaen trail quads coming with a bit of luck for my 1992 Vmax4 750. The max rpm will most likey remain the same, would i be wise to weld the crank, just to be on the safe side or is this over engineering??

i would just run it as is.if it does twist u can weld it.if it doesnt,u save your time and money.

IMHO I would say yes,
even though I ran PSI quads on my 92' for more than 10,000 miles with no issues I have seen cranks twist with those pipes as well.
crank welding is the smallest investment for reliability you can get can be done yourself !!!!!

.................thanks for the input guys. l get the feeling that in this setup i would be airing on the side of caution, rather than a must do.
l dont like the idea of splitting a engine that has never been apart unless its absolutly necessary.................but the aaens are going on in the summer so we will see if time allows.
Just about finished going through the sled, thanks for all the input, took those white taps of inside the airbox today, one didnt need much coaxing, one little push and it snapped of...............hate to think what that would do to to a jug getting sucked in at full bore!

IMO, I'd make sure they are "in time" before welding.
:agree:
Has anyone ever put a degree wheel on the end of their crank and then went cylinder by cylinder to see how close their motor was? I thought about doing it a few times but never got around to it.

I've seen lots of 750 cranks out of phase beacause they were piped and not welded. Take toydocs advice and make sure they are timed before you weld them.
