I am thinking of buying a Vmax-4 800 1996 model. Anything i should look for before buying? The speedometer on it says 9600 Km/5970 miles. Havent seen other than pics of it yet.

From my experience, the first thing I would check is the vin # on top of the PTO and make sure it matches the one on the side and registration. On 2 of the three V4's that I have the # is ground off the PTO. If originality is not a concern, the # doesn't matter too much except for the fact that it may have a 750 motor instead of an 800. I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts as well. :m2c:

Good luck with your purchase!! :vmax4:

mathis,

Sled looks good, I wish my 96 had the low profile windscreen like your's.
With that many KMS on it I'd check the comp.
How much $$ are ya layin out?

Allseasonrider: i will ask the seller for the vin#s. :) its a snowmobile dealer who has it for sale.
Maxmen: Sure have to check the comp. Going to call the dealer today. The problem is that its in the south of norway and i live in the north.
i have a Mountain Max 700 that i use for more regular driving, the v-max4 would only be driven on sunny days ;)

Mathis, from what I see in the picture, it looks pretty clean!

in pictures it looks clean, but i cant take a look at it myself since it is 2000 km from my hometown. Maybe i should just trust the dealer and have it shipped to me by boat....

That looks pretty clean to me.

OT , Mathis, where in Norway do you live? If you don´t want to reply here PM me. I´m from Sodankylä, Finland, so if the distance isn´t too far, we could go sledding sometime.

Talked with the dealer today. They can get it transported to my home town with a cargo truck and spilt the expenses. The track is all new, not a scratch in the seat cover. Should be in very good shape. :)
Ike: Would be cool to go to drive sometime. Live 110 km from Inari, 20 km from the finnish border. our local bar is in the border village on the finnish side. ;)

Mathis, do you know Usko Sarre (US tech)?

Looks like a really clean sled.

After buying one that was not in as good of shape as the seller had stated, I've learned to look at the suspension components. You can tell quite a bit about a sled by looking at the nuts and bolts and anything else that would rust on the suspension. The sled you are buying appears to be in darn good shape and was most likely stored inside all it's life and appears that it was well taken care of.

Have fun with it.

A friend of mine has a Polaris 136" Xtra-10 skid he can sell me cheap, its from a XC-700. Would it be difficult to bolt it on the Vmax4? Anyone know where i could find tunnel extension?
