I picked up a damaged 95 v-max4.

Question is, will the nose cone and hood from a 92 fit the 95?

If it does, I will be parting a 92.

I knew someone would ask that. I went to the Yamaha online parts catalog and the nosecone part numbers are the same for both years. The hood part numbers are different. Other than that, I couldn't tell you.

Part numbers should be different as they should come with the base color paint on them black/red. 800's have a wider ski stance but I don't think they changed the hood for this. I guess I'm no help with this! Good luck...Blue

The drawing for the '92 is very clear. It points out the shroud assy kit as Yamaha black and has a number that points right to it. The drawing for the '95 stinks because you can't see it, the parts list below the picture lists 4 different hoods, and doesn't appear to have a number that points to the hood assy. Your guess is as good as mine!

The hoods should be the same, only the width of the chassis are different.

I believe the only hood that is actually different is that on the 97's as they have a scoop on them to cool the brake, but even a 97 hood would fit any other year I believe and vice versa.

I must chime in here to let you know I just fit a 1993 hood to a 1995 machine and it fits perfect. Also confirming that the 1995 does have a wider ski stance than the 93. I had to extend the brace that goes between the strut cans that the radiator sits on. I did this by making two cuts a couple of inches from each end. Then I cut two 2" pieces of tubing out of a 95 steering gate I had laying around. That tubing fits inside the radiator support perfect. I adjusted so that I had 3/4" on each side and welded it up.

I am the fella that bought the 1995 vmax4 chassis with the Proaction suspension from Cateater (Rick). I used all the parts from my damaged 1993 and everything went really well doing this conversion. The only problem that I ran into was the radiator support which had to be modified. So I now have a 1995 Vmax 750.
