Hi, I've got a chance to pick up a 92 updated to 93 specs. Set up with Aaen quads. This machine was delivered directly to Aaen from the dealer. I'm curious about r.p.m.'s it runs at, torque comming out of corners, and of course, top speed?

Everything is decent on this old boy except the c.d.i. for the flat crank. Which is of no concern to me. Since it does not run, that's why I have the questions.

One thing,,,,, it's got a Comet clutch. I always thought there was more overdrive with the stock Vmax-4 clutch??

Any suggestions?????? Thanks,,,,, Lakeshadow

P.S. Water is cool when you can walk on it......

The sled runs great now. Three of the tabs from the white "inserts" in the airbox were stuck infront of #3 reed cage. All the fuel lines were old and shrank. The right fuel pump pulse line had shrank to just come off. Good thing there was an oil pump. So that's why #3 was down on exhaust heat before it went down to two cylinders. It has a flat crank, Comet primary with AC weights and a green yellow spring. The engagement in the Comet book is 5100. The secondary has what looks like a re-cut angle. And what I think is #36 written on it with a fine point magic marker. The machine has the same skid as my two 97"s. With some linkage levers I've never seen before. The tach does not work. Just wondering off hand,,,, if there is an opinion as to what r.p.m. this thing runs at. I'll get to the tach. I'm so busy with my new place at Houghton Lake. Gettin' it ready. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MWAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something I forgot. It has a 66 link chain with a 1.65 gearing ratio.

What exactly is a flat crank?

Do you have any pics of the skid for us to see the linkage.

Yea Man, I'll give it a try... I'll have to point a light up at it to take a photograph of it in the pole barn with the telephone I think. Not sure if the linkage will show with a crappy phone camera. I'm not going to move it outside in the sun until it's time to take it to Peaches, the cottage.

If you e-mail Aaen, they will tell you what the rpm's should be. If I remember correctly, my 800 recommendations are engagement 4500 and shift out at 8750. Mine shifts out at 8800 on the tach but will pull over 9000 if you wind it out on ice. Pulls like a freight train from 6000 on up. Gives you about 19 hp over stock on an 800.

Ian I considered that, but, I'm not sure if there is any kind of internal engine work, and if so, how much??? I thought I may get a "ballpark" from someone here, with the clutch info I provided. I'm told the pipes run at 8650. Yet I'm curious if that's all, then why is the crank flat, or 180. A stock 360 750 crank will run up to 9250 right? I am going to start working on finding out why the tach doesn't work. Keep in mind, I have not ridden this sled yet. The tach needs to be fixed soon. This 92 and my stock 97 are going up to Peaches along with a mighty Bolens snow mover, all at the same time. :summer_su

I would take and have it dynoed, that way you will know where the sweet spot is.

I figured out the suspension type. It's a Pro Action Plus from a 96XT.
