Hey all, I've posted a few questions here and there already but I guess it's about time I say "Hey" ! Anyway, I recently bought a 92 vmax 4 that needs a few things but is in fair condition. I heard it run when i bought it and did a compression check that showed 130 across all 4. I knew it had some secondary problems, but hey, i liked the sled, i mean, 4 cylinders? How is that not cool ? Anyway, jackshaft (long and short are both shot at the coupler. I was able to get my hands on a complete 93 setup (though i know it's pretty much the same thing, not the 1 piece stuff) that is in great condition. I got both clutches, complete chaincase and longshaft (as well as a seat, belt guard, extra cdi and a few other things). I hope to get her back together tomorrow, or at least in the next few days and up and running again. I have all kinds of questions about clutching as the clutches i got came off a 93 with psi quads on it, so i'm not sure what's in em, but they probably won't fit my stock pipes but i'll hold off until i get the clutches apart so i can at least tell you what i have, also some jetting questions, and a boatload of other crap. I'm getting addicted to reading this site tho, lots of great info !
later,
John

Welcome to the site! :schild27: :schild27: :schild27:
I see several new guys here this year. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even the ones that you think are simple. There are a lot of old pros here who will jump in and help you out. No bashing here, unlike a lot of sled sites, just guys who love the Vmax-4's.
I've got some stuff on my computer that I could send you if you don't already have it, like a '92 specific service manual, clutch and gearing chart, and I had my PSI setup sheets scanned at one time, don't seem to see them now but that's an easy fix. Might help you identify what's in your current setup.

Hey all, thanks for the welcome ! mark the shark, anything, especially the 92 specific manual would be of great interest. I just got the new stuff i need (seals, gaskets, etc) in the mail yesterday so I'm going to start putting her back together, but I've got a LOT of cleaning to do in the process. Once I split both sets of clutches I'm going to post with all the relative info to see if I can set something up with what I've got, or what I need to get to make it reasonable. I'll shoot ya a pm...
