IMO I don't think it is a stress crack. I looked at a 750 sitting on the floor at that a prett meaty area right there where the mount bolts up.

Is that another hairline crack I marked out? Those dark spots being oil from inside.

It also appears to be pushed out somewhat at the bottom flange.

Justa guess, wounder if the Torsion bar (not sure what to call it) by the clutches to help take up motor twist was not set correct...had to much gap/play and twisted right at the motor mount causing the crack???? mite be far fetched, bu thought I would throw that out their.

I was looking at that sled too for what hes asking in parts alone you could double your $ If you do pick it up and part it out I would be interested in some stuff.

dunno,that sure is a strange crack,he said it still spins freely they drove
it into the shed,just no comp on that cyl...

maybe some foreign material got in the lower case...

Could have been one of those plastic tabs from the airbox? If they get past the reed cages they go right into the crank case. I know usually the destruction occurs when they get up into the top of the cylinder, but maybe instead of getting into the top of the cylinder the tab wedged between the intake port and the bottom of the piston on the down stroke and the broke the skirt on the piston. Something like that could get whacked by the crank and bust the case like that.

mjdevries, you could be right. Or has it been hit hard to the other side, where the mount is... Lots of possibilities. Other than that seems like a clean 97 V-4.
