I was looking for a little help. I came across a 800 motor that I was told that the crank has play where the spline is. At idle I was told that you can hear a slap but when it is running it's fine. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing. I always was under the impression that there were not any issue's with the 800 cranks. The motor has 3600 miles on it. Is this something that can be repaired or fixed. He has one jug off of it and it looks awesome. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am just trying to get an idea to be able to help make a decision if I will buy this or not.

Big Willis,,,how the H**l are ya? Cranks can go bad at any given time even at birth. Improper oiling, overheating, lean, casting burr, bad bearing, dirt and who may have had their dirty mitts in it between zero and 3600 miles. The cranks can be repaired depending on how bad they are and what the real problem is. I would be more concerned with why the crank went bad than to fix it simply because you don't want history to repeat itself with a set of rebuilt cranks. I may have a set of 800 cranks if the cost is to high to repair. Give me a call if you want some help, my cell number remains the same as always
Take care bud

I just posted a thread about mine making that same noise. For me it was the absorbers on the front shaft gears. If you can take the spark plugs out and see how much or if there is any play between halves. If you can move the far left piston and the far right does not move with it, then that could be the problem. not a hard fix just need absorbers and a gasket set and time.
